Later, during the reign of King Sukjong of Goryeo (1095-1105), it was renamed and promoted to Gyeongwon-gun (慶源郡) as it was the homecoming 慶源府 of Queen Inye, King Sukjong's mother. Later, during the reign of King Injong (1122-1146), it was promoted to Inju (仁) as it was the homecoming of Queen Sundeok's mother, Queen Lee of Inju, and the Inju Lee clan almost collapsed due to the rebellion of Yi Ja-gyeom. In the 2nd year of King Gongyang (1390), it was promoted to Gyeongbu (御鄕) because it was an area that produced the queen of Goryeo during the 7th generation from Munjong to King Injong, which was part of King Gongyang's efforts to find the legitimacy of the royal authority through a new species.

Incheon can be interpreted as 仁 and 川 in Chinese characters, and it can be spoken in pure Korean, but it is rarely used. It is a forced pure Korean word because it was changed from Inju, which originally means "the village of race," to 仁, which was degraded during the Taejong period of the Joseon Dynasty and was removed from the state, and it is different from Daegu being called Dalgubeol. [42] When Incheon Metropolitan City is referred to in pure Korean, the oldest place name, Michuhol, is used much more. However, it should be noted that the entire Incheon Metropolitan City is sometimes referred to as Michuhol, but there are also cases where it means Michuhol-gu (Nam-gu, 舊).
