Yearly Observation date format

I can't seem to find any information on what date format to use for yearly observational data. Can anyone help me with this? I've tried 01/01/XX and just the year XXXX.

use 01/01/XXXX

the day or month value does not matter, it could be 15/02/XXXX. more information here: https://celray.github.io/SWATPlusToolbox/add-Observations/#monthly-and-yearly-data

Yes, I realized I had my observed data period earlier than my start year for the model. Once I changed that it worked. However, it seems any time I want to change my model period I will have to create new observed data to match. Is there any way around this? Thanks for the link to your website, I will bookmark it!
