Hello SPS,
Hope you all had a great end to the semester; I wanted to pass along some
potential opportunities for us in the spring:
First, the Community Space Science Day event happening at the North Pole
Library on Saturday, January 25 from 1:30-4 pm. All the details I have on
this event are included in the forwarded email below, but it looks like
something that may be of interest to us. If you're interested in being
involved in some way with this event, let me know!
Second, we have been asked if we are available to help conduct a
small-scale astronomy event in March 2020 (exact date as yet undetermined).
This event is a bit like a smaller version of Astropalooza, where the only
responsibility we would have would be setting up and operating telescopes.
For last year's event, I brought my own telescope, and set up the large
telescope that was already on location, and that was more than enough for
the number of people that came. I'll continue providing details as I have
them, but again, if you're interested in this event, let me know!
Hope you all have a fantastic break!

HI Evans,
First, *CONGRATS on the Outstanding Chapter Award from national SPS!* Great
job! We are thrilled when UAF students get the recognition they deserve for
outstanding effort and participation in community science communication and
activities.
Second, we have an upcoming outreach event on *Saturday January 25, 2020
from 1:30-4:00 p.m. at the North Pole Library* dealing with all aspects of
space. We will have one or two special guests from NASA participating, as
well.
I have attached the Community Space Science Day flyer in hopes that you can
post a few around campus and share with the other SPS society officers:
Cory McDonald, Austin Cohen, Devon Gerstenfield, Alexander Gloger, and
Jacob Torres.
If you have an activity you would like to share out at the NP Library
during this special event, let us know and we will save you a table for
your group.
Let us know.
Thank you.
-Doreen
