Hi all,
Hope you all are staying safe and finding ways to enjoy yourself this
summer! I wanted to take a moment to mention a potential outreach
opportunity for the future (no hard dates yet, but most likely either
shortly before the start of the semester or just after).
The Geophysical Institute is seeking a partnership with NASA and the IDEA
homeschool program to conduct a virtual Family Science Night via video
conference. Typically, a Family Science Night event has someone present who
is knowledgeable in STEM subject matters, just to serve as a resource for
simple questions. An example: families are working to construct a basic
circuit to power a lightbulb, and they might ask why the bulbs are dimmer
when connected in series.
I don't have all that much in details to offer so far (this is still in the
planning stages), but if any of you might be interested in taking some time
out of your day to hang out near your computer and be available for some
questions, let me know and we'll get you in the loop on this!
Best,
