We want to say thank you to the Board and to all those who made their voices heard. It made a big difference! The Board has decided to wait for the ALTF to finalize their important work. But District Staff are still pursuing on their own accord the dismantling of the HCC at WMS. As the most diverse MS Cohort this just seems wrong headed. All this with very limited community engagement and no Board oversight. Please let your Directors know how you feel about this important issue.
Also, below is an update on the HiCap/AL Advocacy's video project.

URGENT: We need volunteers to appear in an advocacy video.
As parents of kids in the HCC program at SPS we are worried about the potential of closure for our schools. As a way to educate the School Board and Community about the importance of a separate HC Cohort, we are making a video.
Our brief advocacy video will explain why this program is so incredibly important through personal stories, research, facts and experiences. We hope this will help our broader community open their hearts and reconsider the life changing decisions they are trying to make.
We need both kids and adults who can appear in a variety of locations!- Diverse kids currently in the program
- Diverse kids who graduated from the program
- Research Professionals
- Teachers
- Therapists
- Diverse parents with kids in the program
Our plan is to make this video very quickly. Here are the dates and times we are available to film:- Friday (tomorrow) 9/27 11aM
- Monday 9/30 11:30am
- Tuesday 10/1 11:30am
- Wednesday 10/2 11:30am
- Saturday 9/28 9-12pm 3-5pm
- Sunday 9/29 anytime before 5pm
Please email ka...@schultzworld.net ASAP if you, your family, or your contacts can participate. Include under which category and which date/time/location.
Thank you, Emily and Kara Ka...@schultzworld.net |
