Dear Neighbors,
We’re thrilled to announce the return of the Spruce Hill Community Association May Fair to Clark Park, 43rd and Chester, Saturday, May 9th, 2026, 12-6pm!
This beloved neighborhood tradition will once again offer fun for the whole family, including a lively lineup of live music throughout the day, the ever-popular petting zoo, outdoor games, a moon bounce, and face painting. A wide variety of food trucks will be on hand with delicious food and drinks. Just in time for Mother’s Day, the University City Garden Club will sell a beautiful array of plants, and more than 80 local vendors will include artisans selling unique handmade goods and local community organizations doing outreach – a fun way to learn more about all the many activities and advocacy work happening in our neighborhood.
Want to send a personal message, congratulations or tribute to a neighbor, business or loved one? We are newly launching a Spruce Hill Shoutout option to our May Fair Program – available in print at the Fair or published on our website, social media and list serve. For only $10, your message (of 60 words or less) will be included in the program! Sign up at www.sprucehillca.org OR scan the QR code!
Our cherished May Fair raffle basket tradition will return, with a few twists! Following its successful introduction last year, a silent auction basket will be chockful of fantastic items donated by local businesses. Visit the SHCA booth at 43rd & Chester on the day of the Fair to place your bid! In the meantime, you can purchase raffle tickets online at www.sprucehillca.org OR scan the QR code —each ticket gives you a chance to win one of several fabulous themed gift baskets filled with products and services donated by our local businesses and organizations. Raffle tickets are $1 each, or six for $5. New this year, we have a special $5 Dining Out raffle basket full of coupons and discounts and delectables from our generous Spruce Hill restaurateurs!
If you're in a position to support SHCA further, we invite you to consider a donation of $60 or more. The May Fair is SHCA’s only major annual fundraiser, and your generosity helps us support a wide range of programs and projects—from community events like Shakespeare in Clark Park and the Halloween Tot Parade, cultural happenings, and school initiatives at Penn Alexander, Lea, and Robeson. In partnership with the University City Historic District, SHCA is advancing efforts to pursue Historic District nominations that will help manage the loss of our neighborhood’s architectural heritage. Learn more about this important work at the SHCA booth during May Fair.
If you haven’t yet renewed your SHCA membership this year, now is a great time—just click the “Donate” tab on our website. All contributions are tax-deductible. Please make checks payable to the Spruce Hill Trust, or visit www.sprucehillca.org to give online.
We are always looking for volunteers on the Day of the Fair - if you have a few hours to contribute, please let me know and I will share our sign up sheet where you can select a task/activity that best suits your time and interests!
Finally, attached you will find the May Fair flyer - we would appreciate you helping us get the word out by sharing with your friends and neighbor networks and social media contacts.
Thank you for supporting the Spruce Hill Community Association—and for being a fantastic neighbor.
We can’t wait to see you at the May Fair on Saturday, May 9th!
