Hi there:
I've been working with the recently-released SDL 8.6 boot iso,
and have been mystified by the fact that it would install readily
on my HP DC5800 PC, but would fail to install on my HP Pavilion m8247C
and Compaq Presario machines, aborting with a series of
"dracut-initqueue warning dracut-initqueue timeout" messages and a
final exit to a Dracut Emergency Shell.

I've come across a CentOS forum post,
https://forums.centos.org/viewtopic.php?t=76126 which describes
exactly what the problem is, the fact that RHEL has discontinued
some SATA controller support in RHEL 8, which was in place in
RHEL 7 and earlier. (My latter 2 machines have the MCP61 interface
rather than the MCP51 interface mentioned in the post).

I'm hopeful that something can be put in place to restore this
SATA controller support in SDL 8.7

ELRepo to the rescue. :)

As seen in that CentOS forum post, the first thing to do is to find
out the device ID pairing [xxxx:yyyy] by running:

lspci -nn

Looks like MCP61 is also supported by the sata_nv driver as seen in https://elrepo.org/bugs/view.php?id=983 .

Therefore download the DUD image:

that was built for EL 8.6. If you need assistance on how to use it, please let me know.

Hi Akemi:
Thank you for offering assistance, because I don't know how to
apply the ELRepo modules to my situation.

I've attached 2 word documents containing the lspci -nn output
for the 2 machines exhibiting the problem.

At this point, I simply don't know what I should do next.

Hi Len,

I highly recommend you watch this tutorial video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fOAuXiynYM

and follow the instructions there. Just use the iso file I referred to
in your case.
