Compilation of Spring on Ubuntu

Reading te messages on the clan-sy.com Forums, it seems like ubuntu is
the most popular *nix distribution for Spring. It will take me a few
days (busy) to build a Ubuntu VMware instance, to verify the
compilation procedure and dependency list for Ubuntu, so in the mean
time if someone here has access to a VMware server and can write up an
Ubuntu build procedure for Spring, that would be great.
