Last Friday, I released version 1.0 of Spring ME. You now no longer
have to build your own distributions; you can just download it from a
Maven repository. Unfortunately, it takes quite a while before the
Maven repository is synchronized with the central repository, but
that's outside our control; if you feel like it, feel free to vote for
some work that needs to be done by the maintainers of the central
Maven repository:

http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MAVENUPLOAD-2463

Meanwhile, you can use the repository at http://springframework.me/repository
to download the plugins and additional jars required.

There is also some updated documentation on the plugin here:

http://springframework.me/spring-me-maven-plugin/usage.html

Congratulations, wilfred!

One more question, I can't wait to use it in my project.
But the problem is my project is tightly in NetBeans, so can I use
your framework in NetBeans IDE?
Thanks!

Hi, Wilfred,

one very stupid question,

How can I download the build using the following link? Because when I click the link, I did not find one.

Thanks

Hi Steve,

Sure, Spring ME is not dependent on a particular IDE. It does however
require that some code is getting generated, and currently the only
tool capable of doing that is based on Maven. (Not that the framework
itself depends on Maven in any way, but it's just the most convenient
way of getting things done.

The best way to get started is to check out the example code here:

springme/tags/spring-me-1.0/spring-me-samples

I will make that available as a zip as well. Once you have that, it's simply a matter of running the Maven build.

Hmmm, turns out Apple mail chopped of the actual link. Just go to
sourcforge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/springme) and download
this file. That will give you some clues.

Thanks, Wilfred,

Since I am still new to maven,

could you tell me how to download the following link via maven:
http://springframework.me/repository

and
How to install the SpringME maven plugin, is that for eclipse?

Thanks

Hi, Wilfred,

What is the next step for SpringME?

I would really like the AOP feature, because that will a big help.
I am really sick of the NetBeans preprocess, it is really painful.

I would like to do something for this project, but it seems you are
way ahead of me.

Probably one of the next things is integration with J2ME Polish, which translates into having an Ant task for it in addition to the Maven plugin. Should be relatively simple. I have some ideas on a future roadmap, but I haven't actually written it down anywhere yet. AOP is not high on my wishlist, but if you feel like it, then - I think - you can create an issue for it in JIRA, and we can see if more votes are coming. Always feel free to do a first stab at it. (BTW, with J2ME Polish integration, it's probably less relevant to have AOP integration.)

Just install Maven, move into the unzipped directory, type mvn
package, and you're done. All of the required plugins and libraries
will get installed just like that.
