Thanks, Dan.

To clarify, let's make sure we're still editing on Google Docs.

Tonight, I will incorporate the recommendations in to the slides and restructure (Dan and Irene typed it into the GoogleDoc).  We should all be working on the briefing book more.

Let's try to do as much as we can for the briefing book before our 2:30PM meeting tomorrow.

Also, if we want to make nice printouts, I checked with FedEx Office a few blocks away and they said we should deliver our print job to them by midnight at the latest if we want it by 8AM the next day.  This is conditional on there not being a lot of other jobs to do as well.

I think we should shoot to be done by 11PM tomorrow night.

I think we should keep the briefing book off of google docs specifically; we should upload individually once we're done with it (I think Irene is working on it now), then download it when we want to work on it individually.  This way, we all have access to the latest version, but the transition to Google docs doesn't screw up the formatting (it takes a long time to get all that back to where it was.

Does that make sense?

Agree with Dan. It would cost a lot of time to transfer formatting from google doc to word version. So I suggest we work on the latest version. I created a new matrix incorporating all policy alternatives we talked about and reevaluated them (recommend: score>=30; reject: score<20). It could be put under the appendix but I think it would be necessary to be mentioned in the briefing book.

So far, I finished editing part III and is working on the evaluation of the first policy recommended on part V. Would love to finish but have to run now.

Fernando, I will be back to work on this around 9, you could take a start on VI part in case our work is overlapped.

Here is the updated version. Thanks.

Best,
Irene

Hi All,

Thanks for your updates.

@ Irene - I am taking a quick run-though now and making a few edits. I have a commitment from 8 - 10:30 pm, which is when I will be back online to work on bolstering the recommendation and analysis section.

@ Dan - thanks for sending out the news article on police training. I think we need to give you an award for "most relevant links answering exactly the question the group is discussing" (although that title might be hard to engrave).

Great, I'll go through the latest version of the book before bed, and the latest version of the PPT tomorrow morning!

Update:

I just took a few hours to go through the briefing book in detail and edit the current draft. (attached)

(Initially I was planning on working on the policy recommendations, but there were some key differences in the various sections, so I prioritized the editing and will have to come back to the policy proposals later tonight or early tomorrow morning).

I apologize in advance if I substantially edited / rephrased parts of your section - the goal was mainly to make sure the document works as a whole rather than 4 distinct parts.

A few key notes:

• Really solid progress overall -  It reads much more cleanly and with more organization than before

• Big differences in style - I tried to unify as much as possible, but there were some pretty glaring differences in tone, style, etc.

Let's make sure that in the briefing book we have a clear, direct, and professional tone. (It got a little informal in places). I think this will keep us consistent throughout.

• Incomplete sections - Some parts (i.e. Legal Frameworks) seem to be incomplete, like we were supposed to go back later and fill them in. I tried to amend some of these, but there are still some sentences that need to be cleaned up. If you have a moment, you may want to take a look.

• Background Section Long - Don't want to delete anything now, but I think this is a place we can trim if the page length grows too much. We may want to have slightly more discussion on the policy recs, but let's not do anything until we get that filled in.

I have to sign off now, but I will be back in the late late night or early morning to check back in.

Thanks all,

Fernando

Thank you Fernando. I finished most of the policy recommended part and will work on the rest 1/4 tomorrow morning. Feel free to jump in and editing. You could go ahead and take a start on the next part.

Here is the updated version based on Fernando's version. Thank you.

Hi all,

I will start some edits off this in 30 minutes. Unless someone else is working on this now? Then I will start when you're done (and email out when I'm done).

I'll check back in a bit. And I will be accessible via email/phone.

I'll pass the slides onto you at 11:30AM and then I can review the book after 1PM.
