Hi everyone,
Thank you to those who were able to attend last week for a great SPRIGS IV, and for those of you who missed, we hope to see you at SPRIGS V to be hosted by MQ in September!
Please don't hesitate to send me any feedback on the meeting, what worked well, what didn't. I'm especially interested in your thoughts on the time we devoted to discussion sessions: did you like the balance between talks and open discussion, would you prefer
more time on each topic, or more discussion topics (possibly held in parallel)?
A few follow-ons from some of the discussions:
PLATO Guest Observer proposals:
this list carries
some thoughts on potential proposals, or people involved in contributing to various themes. If you're interested in one or more of these, reach out to those people directly to coordinate.
Stars in Hobart: A date in November for the workshops will be announced soon. There was strong interest in enhanced internal mixing rather than having star-focused and planet-focused days.
Gaia DR4: There was interest in a 1-2 day planning workshop to discuss data, methods, and coordinate potential projects in Q3, and also a hack week in the spirit of Gaia Sprints in January shortly after the release of DR4 to work together on projects related
to this data release; stay tuned for more information.
LSST: We had a discussion around who was interested in doing with with LSST and the timescale at which the data started to become useful for various stellar/planetary science cases. Those notes are
here; if you want to collaborate on any of these reach out to the listed people directly.
Facilities: There was interest in working over the year to map out an exoplanet-related LIEF bid that would be of broad interest to the community and which as many institutions as are interested could participate in together. There are plans to continue that
discussion at SPRIGS V.
Finally, the photo is
here for
you to enjoy. See you in September!
Best,
Ben
