You may get a fuller answer from someone else, but I did a quick Google search and found this:

That might be enough to get your Gateway integration up and running.

There *is* a spree_elavon_gateway gem, but it hasn't had any commits in over two years, so I don't know that I would trust it.

Hi all,

First time poster, ruby/railsist for about 1 1/2 years (still feel pretty new), totally new to spree:

Setting up a spree site (going to subdomain it into my rails site so it is completely stand alone).  Am hosting it on heroku.  site is up and working with products, taxes seem ok, shipping seems to be working as I intended so far.  Very simple requirements so far.  Now on to doing charges:  Building this for my wife (so it better be good right?)

My wife has an account with Elavon and she can access it through MyVirtualMerchant.  I also have a strip account but that would be a last resort as she doesn't like the week delay to get funds.

i installed the spree_gateway gem but Elavon isn't listed in the gateways supported however there is a comment at the end about Active Merchant gateways and Elavon IS one of those.  please remember that I'm a total spree noob:  how do i do charges using her merchant account and my spree site?  do I need to hack together a  gateway file and add it to my project to extend the list of gateways?  some of those files look very simple, some not so much - am I getting over my head?  :)

I have really appreciated the great support from the folks on IRC lately and look forward to hearing from someone on this.  thanks a ton in advance!
