SPRD acquires 50% of Traicio and sets up a new R&D center in Chengdu,
China. It will hire up to 1,000 people by 2014. Chengdu is an
industrial hub of Western China:
Dr. Li says that in this new R&D Center, they will start with WIFI
chipsets first, then to develop smart phone chipsets and related
software in the future. I read a news report a few weeks back saying
that China Mobile will build more than 600 millions of wireless access
points in China in 2 years.
