Chart Data Label Orientations

HI,
I was wondering if there was a way to change the orientation for chart data lables (e.g. rotate them 90 degrees, read from bottom->top). I saw that this could be done for regular spreadsheet cells with formatting but I couldn't find an option to do the same for chart data labels. I thought of changing the cell formatting of clones data columns to achieve re-oriented data labels (although I haven't actually tried this yet), but this leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
