To: Circuit Builders participants
& others interested in building.
From: Orcy, Coordinator.
It looks like Circuit Builders has reached
the end of its life, at least in its current form. "Our" lab in OSS Room
415 is no longer what it once was, and it will be remodeled this summer as a
multipurpose room or some such. John Thurow, NØVYX, has suggested checking
out libraries to see if any have space we could use. Tom Sturm, NØBGO (our
liaison with UST), told me that there are makers' rooms in the Cities. We
could rent a room somewhere for Circuit Builders to use. I'm not counting
on returning to Room 415.
It's been a good ride. People came and
people went, but it was always fun. And we learned a lot. Our most
popular topic was Raspberry Pi. Makers came out of the woodwork for
that. I didn't participate, deciding to familiarize my self with Arduino
first. Now that I have learned everything I want to learn about Arduino,
I'm ready to work on Raspberry Pi. Others may also be ineterested in that,
or have projects of their own to work on. Someone could propose a topic
that multiple people might be interested in pursuing. I'll check out a
makers' room that Tom NØBGO mentioned, and look around to see what else is being
done in the Twin Cities.
Thanks to Tom NØBGO for his support over the
years for the Circuit Builders, and thanks to the University of St. Thomas and
the UST Radio Club for the use of their facilities and equipment. It has
meant a lot to us 'geeks.'
