Planners graduating today are entering a world of rapid globalization, urbanization, climate change, technological advancement, multiple environmental crises, and peak oil, inter alia. How can we as planners use lessons of the past to prepare for a dramatically different future, or can we? The very essence of planning is anticipating the future to make better decisions. As such, what should the Bioregional Planning program be doing to prepare planners for an inherently unpredictable future? In addition, how can we encourage or enable a more regional/bioregional approach to planning?
