Hi SPPUD!
I know we're all ridiculously busy right now, but this Thursday evening is a great opportunity to discuss the future of our program and planning education in general with a small group of our program's faculty.  We will be meeting 7:00-8:20 at the Sister's Brew coffeehouse in downtown Moscow; our discussion will be based on the prompt below.  Please RSVP (ru...@vandals.uidaho.edu) if you plan to come.  I hope you all can make it!

Planners graduating today are entering a world of rapid globalization, urbanization, climate change, technological advancement, multiple environmental crises, and peak oil, inter alia.  How can we as planners use lessons of the past to prepare for a dramatically different future, or can we?  The very essence of planning is anticipating the future to make better decisions.  As such, what should the Bioregional Planning program be doing to prepare planners for an inherently unpredictable future?  In addition, how can we encourage or enable a more regional/bioregional approach to planning?
