Gone" is a song recorded by South Korean-New Zealand singer and Blackpink member Ros from her debut single album R, which was released on 12 March 2021 by YG Entertainment. The song was written by J. Lauryn, Teddy, Ros and Brian Lee, and was produced by Lee and 24.[1] Ros performed the full version of "Gone" for the first time on SBS's Inkigayo on 14 March.[2] "Gone" is a soft rock, alternative rock and indie rock romantic ballad about lamenting past love and future loneliness. The song was Ros's final solo release under YG and Interscope Records, following her departure from the labels in December 2023.

The song was released as the second single from R on 4 April 2021, alongside the release of its music video. Directed by Kwon Yong-soo, the video shows the singer mourning the loss of a relationship in an elaborately decorated old house. In South Korea, "Gone" peaked at number six on the Gaon Digital Chart and number five on the Billboard K-pop Hot 100. The song peaked at number one in Malaysia, and entered the top ten in Hungary and Singapore. It debuted in the top 100 of several countries, including Australia, Canada, and Hungary, and at number 29 on the Billboard Global 200.

On 30 December 2020, in an interview with South Korean media outlet Osen, Ros revealed that filming for her debut music video would begin in mid-January 2021.[3] On 25 January 2021, a 33-second teaser titled "Coming Soon" was uploaded to Blackpink's official YouTube channel and featured Ros singing a snippet of an unknown track.[4] Later that day, it was announced that Ros will be showcasing a portion of the unknown track, later revealed to be titled "Gone", at Blackpink's first virtual concert, The Show, on 31 January 2021.[5][6] On 11 March, Ros revealed in an online press conference that "Gone" was originally recorded two years earlier.[7] The following day, the song was officially released as the second track off the single album, R.[8][9] A month later, on 5 April 2021, it was officially released as a single, alongside its music video.[10][11]

"Gone" was written by Brian Lee, Ros, J. Lauryn, Teddy, and produced by 24 and Brian Lee. It is a soft rock, alternative rock and indie rock romantic ballad underlaid with an electric guitar. Pertaining to a mellow vibe, the production of the song features a "stripped-back" sound and built around strummed guitar chords.[12][13][14][15] The lyrics to "Gone" describe a female protagonist who still has feelings for her former lover, who has moved on.[16] The singer's vocals were described as "raw" and "direct". In terms of musical notation, the song is composed in the key of F# major, with a tempo of 80 beats per minute, and runs for three minutes and twenty-seven seconds.[17]

On 27 March 2021, the singer confirmed during an Instagram Live broadcast that the video for "Gone" would be released "very, very soon".[21] On 31 March, Ros announced via her social media accounts that the music video would be released in five days.[11] On 4 April the second teaser poster was released.[22] The music video for "Gone" reached 10 million views on YouTube in half a day after its release.[23] It garnered 15 million views in its first 24 hours, marking the fourth biggest 24-hour debut for a Korean female soloist.[10] The behind the scenes video was uploaded on 7 April.[24] On 5 July the music video surpassed 100 million views on YouTube.[25]

The music video shows the singer on an emotional roller coaster while looking back on a past romance.[26][27] It opens with Ros wrapped in a furry green jacket while waking up on a candlelit bathroom floor, slowly opening her eyes next to a bathtub.[27] Next, Ros is happily smelling roses, playing chess with her lover and twirling around with a handheld camera in an elaborately decorated old house.[27][26][28] The scenes change from the singer acting happy and carefree to lying sadly and realising that her relationship is over.[26][29] Meanwhile, vivid splashes of spilled wine and dripping candle wax foreshadow the red rose's inevitable end. Ros then appears sitting alone at a nighttime bus stop, wearing a little black dress and a pair of white platform boots.[26][30] The singer is then shown in a rainbow-colored dress while sitting on a couch.[30] Then the music video shows Ros in front of a projector, angrily throwing ripped pillows in a dark room, throwing out old picture frames and standing amid a blazing fire, while the house's furniture is covered in tarp.[26][27][28] In the final scene, the singer is in a denim jacket and mutlicolored camisole dress, dining alone with a glass of red wine in the kitchen.[27][30]

On 31 January 2021 the singer performed "Gone" at Blackpink's first virtual concert, The Show.[20] On 14 March 2021, Ros made the debut performance of "On the Ground" and "Gone" on SBS' Inkigayo.[41] Throughout March, the singer continued to perform the song on M Countdown, Show! Music Core, and Inkigayo.[42][43][44] In April 2023, Ros performed "Gone" as part of her solo stage during Blackpink's setlist as the headlining act of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.[45] On July 2, 2023, she also performed the song during Blackpink's set as the headlining act of BST Hyde Park in London.[46]

We have a small bed with Peace and Chicago Peace. Also in this bed is a butterfly bush, liriope, peonies, coreopsis, veronica, daylilies etc. Some of these were inherited with the house but in any case, in this bed we get tall grass late in the season. I take this to be bermuda grass?

The chemical in Grass B Gon is labeled as safe for 'over the top' application on roses, and most other broadleafs. 'Over the top' means that you can spray it right over the entire bed without harm to your roses. I don't go quite that far . . . I spray around the roses, but I don't worry if it gets on them. It's a selective herbicide that only kills plants in the grass family -- like the chemical in weed and feed only kills broadleaf weeds and leaves your lawn unharmed.

I keep a bottle of GBG handy to get the Bermuda that creeps into my front borders under the brick edge. (I buy it in the concentrate form now, sold as Ornamec.) As soon as the grass shows up, I shoot it with GBG. It works very well.

A friend of mine mentioned that following his recent move, he is experiencing a lot of gophers on his new property and concerned about the damage they may do to his roses. Has anyone experienced this and what effective means did you use to manage the gophers?

Hi, I spoke with my daughter today and she has gopher issues. A pest control person said to try placing unwrapped sticks of a sweet chewing gum, such as Juicy Fruit in the gopher hole. The gophers eat the gum, it swells in their stomach and they cannot eat and therfore expire.

I just wanna be the one

But to you, we're already done

Tell me, why'd you have to hit and run me?

Now I'm all alone, cryin' ugly

You broke my heart just for fun

Took my love and just left me numb

Now it's eight in the morning

Hate in the morning (all because of you)

Another story that's sad and true

I can feel the pain, can you?

You had to be the one to let me down

To colour me blue

Hate to see you with someone new

I'll put a curse on her and you

Ain't no looking back, now you're dead and gone

My love is gone too

I sent my ring out to be sized and soldered. It was white gold with rose gold detail. When it came back the rose gold detail was gone!

I was told that it was due to "flashing" after it was re-rhodium plated. First I was told it just needed to be cleaned and polished. Then I was told they were ordering a pen to "paint the rose back on"

Still just a very dull, barely noticeable rose.

Now I am being told I need to wear it in the sun, and wait about a month for it to tarnish to its original color!?

Doesn't sound right to me, but I'm not a jeweler.

Is my ring ruined?

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about your ring. The jeweler who performed this service should have examined the ring first and then told you the risks involved with re-plating and soldering the ring - including the loss of the rose gold plate.

When rings are soldered, they have to be cleaned thoroughly, a process which can remove any thin plate on a ring and remove the darker patina which may have developed on rose gold detail.

Likewise, a rhodium plate may have covered up what was left of the rose detail on the ring.

It sounds like the jeweler has asked you to place the ring in the sun to try to develop a patina on the rose gold detail - however this is a process which takes years.

Because this jeweler has provided an unsatisfactory service, I would suggest taking the ring to a different jeweler with an excellent reputation who may be able to restore the rose gold detail which was originally on the ring. However either way, it sounds like the rose gold detail on the ring initially has been lost.

A jeweler may be able to restore these details but it is unlikely that the rose gold will develop a darker patina any time soon even if the ring is exposed to the sun. But, the type of rose gold used to brush in the older details can be darker or lighter depending on the type used.

Best of luck with restoring your ring back to its original beautiful and I'm sorry that you had this experience.

Everything Wedding Rings

For those of us who grew up watching "Little House on the Prairie" on TV (yet did not become the sort of devotees driven to seek out more information about the Ingalls clan), it's hard to imagine Laura Ingalls Wilder as anything but a preteen Melissa Gilbert -- or her daughter, Rose Wilder Lane, as anything but a rarely seen baby who arrived toward the end of the series. Which is to say, it's hard to imagine them being very interesting. When author Wendy McClure told me she'd begun working on a book about their family, "The Wilder Life," for which she would be traveling to many of the least appealing parts of the Midwest, learning to churn butter, and twittering as "HalfPintIngalls" (sample tweet: "Today was a pretty good day until the ox fell through the sod roof of the dugout"), I did consider the possibility that the Wilder ladies were more fascinating than I'd ever given them credit for. But I also considered the possibility that Wendy was out of her mind.
