The judging panel for the first round of the Bristol Groundschool ATPL Scholarship Programme 2013 included, Dr Eleanor Ivory (Pilot with leading British airline and CAA Aviation Medical Examiner), Capt Martin Mahoney (Senior VP Flight Training for Emirates Airline), Lee Mears (former England Rugby Union star and Bristol Groudnschool student), Dorothy Pooley (Immediate Past Chairman and Founder of the Professional Flying Instructors Association, Master Elect of GAPAN), Andreas Rosboch (Current Mod 1 Bristol Groundschool ATPL student), Ian Seager (Publisher of FLYER and Pilot Career News) and Graham Stokes (Head of Flight Operations Training & Standards for Virgin Atlantic Airways).

The Bristol Groundschool ATPL Scholarship Programme was launched in early April 2013 in celebration of the school entering its 21st year in business, and was created to directly assist students with a passionate interest in becoming a professional pilot, who are on track towards their ATPL. Throughout the year, Bristol Groundschool will be awarding a total of 21 ATPL theory scholarships, each worth 2,140.
