I'm newly addicted to Stobist, and have been looking at all the
assorted Poverty Wizards.

I have a strong background in software, and a decent background in
hardware, wireless systems, etc. I spend nearly three years as VP of
Engineering at a firm doing medical sensors with ZigBee networking. So
SPOT sure looks interesting to me.

What's the status? If there is life, where do I find it?

Hi Pat,

I'll just copy my reply from four days ago as a status update for
everyone. Please try to find a more cheerful title for your next
post :-)

thanks for your interest in the SPOT project! There's not a lot of
life left in it unfortunately. There were two or three - as far as I
know successful - attempts to reprocude my stuff but it did not really
take off. There was one derived project that I liked a lot because it
simplified the worst part of making a SPOT - the hardware-side of the
display. It worked without one. See on "abbemu"'s (Benny Jo) flickr
stream:

I offer my help if you want to give it a try, I'm still excited about
tinkering, photography and strobism. On the other hand I moved from
Germany to South America and have my hands pretty full. Feel free to
use this email address or post on the group discussion list. There are
still a few people left on the list who may be motivated by a new
attempt though, so I'd recommend trying that option.

Cheers
Till
