If so my douchie friend from across the pond, you are a shill and you drive to my mothers house every 2 days a reset her unit so she can watch movies. I bought it for her because it was supposed to be simple and I relied on the WD name.
However, yesterday afternoon while I was at work my wife called and told me that the Instant Queue was no longer available. I told her to use the Wii instead and it worked fine. I performed the reset procedure I found here and got it working again.
im having this issue as well now. i wanted to know if everyone here has blu-ray added to their netflix accounts? i just added blu-ray and now im having this issue. looking forward to the firmware update. i have no other complaints except the long startup times when the wdtv starts up. its much longer than the normal wdtv live.
another thing for those of you who are havng probelms reaching the deactivate option within wdtv. make sure you start pushing the arrow sequence once the netflix window opens up and starts to load up the queue. u should see the circular progress indicator when you push the buttons. if it reaches the queue error screen you were too slow.
Netflix app on my iPad crashes when I attempt to search. I have an ipad1. I have removed and reinstalled the Netflix app with no luck. I have hard reset the device. No luck. I have closed all apps and launched the Netflix app, still no luck. I am running the latest iOS.
I've called Netflix several times in the past few months on tis issue. They always say they have never heard the issue before... In the ipad diagnostics, I often see a low memory crash error. I believe the issue would be resolved if they went back to the old search, which was to type into the search box, then click a button to search on the Netflix server and display a results page. I think the instant search must use too much memory for an pad 1. the instant search is ot as good either, because it only searches for titles.
I agree that the issue is with Netflix and memory. My diagnostics show low-memory conditions when it crashes sometimes. I've called Netflix a few times, but they say they have never heard of this issue before. In fact, I believe they need to code it better. I'm guessing that the issue may occur for users who have a lot of movies in their queue. They are loading up EVERYTHING into memory without checking how much they are loading. Then, when you click on the "Search" box, it tries to preload something that has no more room in memory to load. Clicking on the "Search" box should not do anything. Even typing should not do anything. We should be able to turn off instant search and just click a search button after we have typed in search words. This would be a better search method, because it would allow us to search for actors and directors, and keywords, not just movie titles.
When this happens I can double tap the home button and I can see the list of Apps that are running. I then just kill/close the netfilx app. I wait a second or two and launch the netflix app and the ability to seach is restored.
Same issue here. Both iPad and iPhone jailbroken but problem arises only on the former. Quitting app or freeing memory doesn't help. So far I've not found a solution. Have tried various options, including all the "fixes" listed here - no luck.
I have the same issue with the search. It all used to work just fine. Also it crashes when I look up info on a show then I try to change seasons. I'm on an original iPad that's NOT jail broken. Netflix claims they've never heard of this problem and just blame the iPad. No help at all! Hope somehow this gets resolved soon.
After it phoned home, it gave me a code that I had to enter at netflix.com to tie the box to my account. I did this on my laptop and almost before I could pick up the remote again, the screen had changed and was telling me that everything was now set up.
We were slightly disappointed that several of the shows Thomas was hoping for are not available for instant viewing. These include Fraggle Rock, Invader Zim and The Muppet Show. Perhaps these will be added later. Netflix currently has 100,000+ DVDs, but only 12,000ish of these are available for instant viewing. I have to believe this number will increase.
I am playing with the Netflix API. I am confused on what they want as the 'UserID'. (for a protected query)I am sending in this string (after authentication) to get the User's queue: -public.netflix.com/users/'userID'/queues
Maybe I am not even approaching it from the right angle. Any documentation or code I have found glosses over that part (My netflix ID doesn't work and I assume it should be part of the oauth token I get back, not my normal netflix ID)
I have confirmed by un-installing 10.x and re-installed 3.6 (which I happened to have laying around) that the FIREFOX 10 will not allow me to play my Instant Queue NetFlix movies (I get a "minimum requirements nag screen from netflix instead of my movie.) However FIREFOX 3.6 loads and plays my netflix instant movie just fine. My system = WINDOWS 2003 SERVER SP2 x32bit.
Looks like it was a NETFLIX problem with the new user agent data. I called them a few days ago and brought this up to them and told them they needed to pass it onto their web guys. I bet a whole bunch of other people who upgraded to FIREFOX 10 called too. They must have figured it out. :-) I mark this as SOLVED and NOT FIREFOX problem (it had to have been a NetFlix user agent problem on their web site!) .
An alternate way to get there is to Right click the application and select 'Get Info'- but you're right that that is not likely to help if you're already running in 32 bit mode. Another idea is to check your version of Silverlight, and upgrade to the most recent version:
With the release of Netflix on the Nintendo 3DS eShop, Nintendo's latest handheld enters into direct competition with many other mobile devices including but not limited to Android smartphones and Apple's iPod Touch and iPhone platforms. As the popular streaming service becomes more and more widespread, it's important that the particular implementation on the 3DS can hold up to other devices.
The first thing you'll need to do upon downloading and launching the app is activating on the Netflix website. It's strange that some of the Netflix applications (Android, PS3) seem to bypass this step. It's frustrating to need to have a web browser handy, but luckily the 3DS is equipped with a competent web browser.
After activating on the website (which negates the need to put in a username and password) you are immediately taken to your instant queue. From this point forward, the application works very much like any other Netflix app. You can press the Y button to search for a title, or use the D-Pad to scan through some pre-set genres and recommendations.
Depending on the speed of your network connection, loading up a new video can take anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or more. The 3DS doesn't seem paricularly slower or faster than other Netflix applications (such as the Wii application). In general, that statement applies to most of the functionality of the 3DS version of Netflix.
One cool item that Netflix on 3DS brings to the table is 3D implementation of the menu, including a pop-up effect on the little screens that scroll across the screen while rewinding or fast forwarding. Since all Netflix content (at the present) is 2D, the 3D slider is deactivated once video playback begins.
The quality of the video is not great, but not much different than what can be found on other handheld platforms. Certainly it's watchable, and will do just fine for the needs of the many, but the few who require pristine high quality video may need to stick to the Retina Display of the iPhone 4. Most importantly, the video playback on Netflix for 3DS doesn't seem to be any lower in resolution than the screen would otherwise allow.
The presence of Netflix on 3DS has been touted by Nintendo as a great addition to the Nintendo 3DS featureset, and it is; however it's also more or less a requirement of a competent online handheld device in 2011. Luckily, 3DS owners won't have much to complain about with the Netflix implementation on their shiny new handheld.
As I mentioned in the other thread, the audio does seem to be in mono (few mobile devices have built-in stereo speakers, so the omission is somewhat understandable). I've tested three shows (MythBusters, The Garfield Show, and Star Trek TNG)-all are in mono. The audio is still very good though.
Did anyone else have trouble trying to get out of the app? I hit the home button but it wouldnt let me get out. I even tried to shut the 3DS down and still nothing. It finally shut down after about a minute. I was worried there for a second that I may have messed something up but everything seems fine after I turned it back on. I wish there was a soft reset of the system when you run into things like that.

Yeah, that happened to me after I first launched the application after the download. It hung up when attempting to access a title in my instant queue. I was able to get it to back out to the instant queue list, but could not actually get the application to close with the Home button. I had to power off the 3DS. I have not experienced any further occurrences of this behavior.
