Hey fellow SDQL fans,

I've been hard a work playing with SDQL3 for several months. I'm close to loading a ton of historic data for the NFL and NCAAFB very soon. Up to this point, I've been testing data acquisition. I have it nailed for the NFL and expect to have a basic site up very soon.

This basic site will allow queries and return game results just like your used to. Initially, you'll have to write queries in longhand, meaning, instead of "AD and p:W" you'll need to use "site='away' and line>0 and p:points>po:points". Joe was great about providing cool shortcuts for us to use, and I intend to add them all as fast as possible. In the meantime, to get it working, you'll have to use the longhand.

I expect to have the NFL working in advance of the season. I hope to do the same for NCAAFB. I'll do my best.

I expect the basic site to evolve into something really cool, with new features and ease-of-use options. But great things take time, so be patient.

Lastly, I'm spending every spare moment trying to get this ready for the season. I'll update more when I can. Look for a simple NFL test site very early in August. There are gonna be hiccups, data anomalies, and other unforeseen issues for sure. Again, be patient and we'll work hard to get it right as fast as possible.

I love SDQL! Joe Meyer has given us all a great gift. I'm very grateful to him, thanks Joe!

SDQL is not going away. Stay tuned!

I needed to hear something like this. Thats great news, thanks for the update.

Do you think we will eventually have the ability at some point to still save trends and get daily breakdowns like on killersports?

I appreciate what must be a lot of work for you.

I would pay to support your efforts for the football codes and seasons, CFL, NFL, NCAA FB.

Best,

Thank you for your time and hard work, Gambrinus. Much appreciated.

One question...with this SDQL3 transition, will users know which book the lines come from?

Staying optimistically patient.

Gambrinus, you will be "GOD" status in my books if you can get this up and running.  This is music to me ears.
Thank you so much for your time in delivering this to us. This must be taking you a lot of personal time to complete much highly appreciated.

Sounds fantastic! Will rushing yards return as an option to CFB? Will we be able to save stuff like we did at Killer?

Hi Gambrinus,

Tom - PCG here. I am currently bumping heads on this with Venatus on discord. Sports Wagering Analytics Group
I am interested in helping, and shared with him some work I've done that I can share with you as well.

Also, if you need people to help on server costs, I saw some screenshots of your work in progress....looks pretty good...and you could count me in.

Cheers,
Tom

Hey guys,

Thanks for the support. I appreciate it. I'm behind schedule, I hoped to be beta testing by now. Frankly, the new website is the holdup. Being able to display the various outputs from the raw SDQL data is challenging. I have most of the SDQL stuff worked out. I'm even closing in on finishing all the NFL and NCAAFB shortcuts.

I think everyone will be very happy, but remember, the goal is to start with a site that allows input of SDQL and returns accurate results. Once we have that working, more good stuff will follow.

I have some cool things cooking pertaining to lines. Aug13b.JPG

I'm storing the line, as well as the odds from various sources. The lines will update at least once per day. You could enter something like, "HF and line fd>9" to see how +9 dogs do according to the FanDuel line.

Here's what the lines are.
  • line is the consensus line
  • line ce - Ceasars
  • line ci - Circa
  • line dk - Draftkings
  • line fd - Fan Duel
  • line lv - consensus Las Vegas
  • line mgm - mgm
  • line mir - mirage
  • line pb - points bet
  • line sh - sugarhouse
  • line sp - south points
  • line ub - unibet
  • line wh - william hill
I'll have more info soon.

hadn't read this thread........... have the administrators thought of cutting down on the data items for each game?............ i'm guessing 99.9% of users probably use 15% of the data at most. and 15% sounds really high if you include player data (which i did use some)

Gambrinus,

Thank you for your hard work and I will gladly throw you some cash.

I have several projects that are going to be completely sidelined by the SDQL3 rewrite.

On another note, does anyone know if Joe is going to allow SDQL2 access past September 1, 2021?
I realize this is probably a stupid question and the answer is "No" given all of the warnings on the website.

Thanks,

Andrew

I'm not sure what you're doing, so I can't answer on compatibility. Right now my continued focus is to get the NFL and NCAAFB operational. Then I'll be able to look at other things.

Good luck.

I believe Killer Sports still working for MLB, but that's about it (NFL doesn't return anything).

I remain confused about the fate of SDQL-based web sites with regards to a front-end interface for those of us who are not programmers. Is that what Gambrinus is doing, building a user-friendly front-end? If so, cannot wait!!

I agree with Ed.  I am able to use the Killer Sports website to query the database, like normal, for MLB.  I've been using the S3.sportsdatabase.com for NFL and NCAAF with very limited success.  Queries that worked last weekend, do not work now.  I don't know if someone is actively working inside the database, which is why a simple query like @line<-13 returns syntax error gibberish, or something else.  I'm not a programmer.  I do know as of yesterday, the data for the 2019 and 2020 seasons in college football were either incomplete, or wrong.  Teams would show 5 games played for 2019.  Other teams would show two games played on the same day against two different opponents.  One positive:  @team=OHST returned gibberish as of two days ago.  It seems to now produce correct results.  However, @team=OHST and o:team=MICH still doesn't work.  I don't know if the query structure I'm using is wrong, or the database is jacked up.  I think it's the latter, as these queries used to work.

I got my hopes up when I got that email from whoever the new proprietors of Killer Sports are.  That was over a week ago.  It's a shame.  This database was like having a crystal ball.  I, like the rest of us, am hoping for something that works soon.  I'll be happy to pay for it, too.

Out of curiosity, will the queries return ATS/OU/SU/Teaser records along with the margins and average lines/totals automatically like would happen before?  Also, will we be able to sort?  The S3 database does not and this is very frustrating.  I was given an input to get the record info only but it seems to be adding the games the query applies to.  The last version was so much cleaner and easier to read.

Guys, SDQL3 really isn't as bad as it seems. Yes, it's not as pretty but it is still functional and usable while Gambrinus puts the finishing touches on his site. If you need help using SDQL3 and want more frequent updates of what is going on behind the scenes, join the Sports Wagering and Analytics Group discord: https://discord.gg/BqD9kxggjc

Many people there will be able to help you figure it out. And guess what? SDQL3 is pulling from the database that Gambrinus made, so if you find issues, they can be addressed very quickly.

My issue is it seems some conditions arent working. When I utilize p: for previous game I get errors or when I utilize season>=2016 I get no results or errors too. I just wish we could sort and get return results for the records I mentioned above. To me that was the most important info. Getting a list of games doesnt do too much good if I cant see the accurate record of wins and losses along with the average margins and lines/totals. If there is a way to do this please let me know. Its too much to sit there and add up every win and loss to get a total record. I think too much work is being put into this to not get similar results that we were getting before. If the inputs actually work, that parts not that bad. It’s the result you get that I am not a fan of.

Hi JB,

is it still accessible even without a token and username? I just joined the discord group and the information is gold.

I have tried to run a few queries without having a token and I dont actually get the table showing the SU, ATS and O/U records like it used to show on sportsdatabase. I just get a long list of previous games and their results.

Any info you can provide will be much appreciated. I am definitely not a programmer or a data analytics guru so this change to SDQL3 is a little hard to comprehend.

Thanks mate

Not sure what the exact question is. SQL is working https://s3.sportsdatabase.com Not all the traditional shortcuts are for example "WP." Killer did tell me they hope to bring back the store option, but the basics are ready.
