What kind of things can be used to effectively teach students about
the power of a good routine?
I have a video of the final of the women's 100 meter dash in Sidney
(2000) with Marion Jones. Ignoring, for a moment, her legal woes, this
race effectively illustrates routines. There are two false starts in
the race and so we get to see Jones enter the starting blocks 3 times
in a row. Guess what. Each time is exactly the same, even down to the
minute details that would otherwise have appeared insignificant.
