So I'm in the process of trying to create my first quiz. It's probably more complicated than first attempts should be, so I'm running into problems. I have headings for different categories, which seems to work fine, but I would like to still hide the extra info until the answers are entered, and I can't seem to make that work. It's an NFL quiz, and the headings are the different teams, and I want to show people the stats associated with the names of different players as they appear, but the stats show up right away, without any names. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like your problem is quite easy to rectify.

Have you tried checking the "Hide 3rd Column until answered" option in the "Options" tab? This should produce the effect you want.

I already checked that box, but the stats are showing up in the first column, not the third, even though I have them in the "extra info" section and not the hint section. No third column shows up at all.

I think this is because in the data section, your 'first column' there, moves up to your headers and the 'third column' moves to before the Answers?

In my data sheet the number down the side are in my 3rd column and the headers are the first column, and in my example, I guess you want the numbers hidden until answered?

I've tried the 'Hide 3rd column until answered' on them too as a test, but it also wont work, so I am not sure what you can do. Maybe send a report in via feedback to see if they can help you out.

Unless someone else wants to chime in here and tell us!

Whilst you're at a dead end, would you mind adding a link to the test (the URL should look like this: http://www.sporcle.com/games/test/______ - the ______ should be a six digit hexadecimal number)?

This would allow people to suggest other changes you could make to further improve your quiz, and thus increase its likeliness of having a better rating immediately and therefore more plays.

Thank you RobPro, that is precisely the problem. Erin, I will provide a link as soon as I finish it (it's a very long quiz).

Righty ho! Just remember, DON'T press anything on the finish up tab until people here have had a look at it. We always like to help people on their first quizzes (or any others for that matter).

Okay, so I finished the thing, but the trouble is I didn't read your last post and I already contributed the quiz. I can still edit of course, but in the meantime it already has over 50 plays. Here's the URL: http://www.sporcle.com/games/MTwhiz/everybody_but_tebow

It's one of those where it's pretty much impossible for anyone to get 100% without cheating, but it's quite possible to get close if you know your football. I definitely want as much feedback as possible as I don't intend for this to be the only quiz I ever create.

Your color scheme is very hard to read.  You've got black on dark red for the clue and black on dark blue for the answer.

I suggest changing the text color for both clue and answer to white or off-white.  That is, something like #FFFFFF or #FFFFF0.

Exactly what I was going to suggest. Just for future reference, curators and editors, which most of us here are can view test links so we can see your tests if you give us the link. I know very little about American sports, so unfortunately I can't help you much content-wise

I agree that the colors are a problem, which can be easily remedied by changing the answer and extra info text colors to white.
Other than that, it was a fun quiz and an interesting idea. Well done, especially for a first quiz!

Thank you so much everybody! The color issue has been fixed with white text as suggested, and I do agree it looks much better.
