I know this sounds like a stupid question, but are we still able to obtain the puzzle hunt badge. I'm thinking about going for it again. Thanks!

If you have a smart phone with a camera, download the app google goggles. It'll take the picture and search for it. It may take a few tries. I used it to complete that puzzle (it actually only recognized 19 out of 20)

Ah, yes, this puzzle hunt. I of course couldn't do this on my own, but I decided to go a different route and ask members of another (totally different) forum for help... and then one person there came to the rescue and did almost everything else I didn't already have.

The Geography one was the most evil.

Yeah, that one was kinda confusing... You'd think XX means "X squared", but in this case, XX means a two digit number with the same digit X twice. The dot is a symbol for multiplication.

@fusty - after you solved each category, type your answers in the meta puzzle and you are then given another puzzle.

Maybe a hint for #13 in the final quiz? (White text below)

=====
Ultimately, it seems the problem is that this word may just be a lot more obscure than all the other words in the final quiz. If you got all the rest of the answers, you know which answer you have to follow and which operation to do with that answer, but you're still not sure what the actual answer to it is. I'd say knowing some French would help, as this word is spelled the same as a French word with a related meaning (though pronounced differently); in English, the pronunciation of the word seems a bit unintuitive with its spelling in my opinion.

Fusty - Check your stats to make sure you have registered plays for all 17 quizzes in the Puzzle Hunt. You might not have been signed in when you played one of them. To get the badge, you have to have a play registered for each of the 17 quizzes, and 100% in the final quiz. I got the badge straight away so it should be working if you have fulfilled all of those criteria.

You only need 100% in the final quiz, and need to have played all of them. Your statistics are hidden so I can't check if you've missed anything. Make sure you aren't counting the answer confirmer, hint giver, or sample quiz in the 17. My list is actually 20 quizzes long because I've played all of those. I only got 78% on Just for Fun, so you definitely don't need to have a perfect score on everything.

If anybody could give me a hint on how to solve the metapuzzle, I'd really appreciate it. I have all the answers from the 15 category quizzes and I have the 15 metapuzzle words and the directions, but I can't for the life of me put anything together. Every way I try ends up as a dead end. If you search for "Puzzle Hunt", there will be a list of around 18 or 19 quizzes. Fifteen of them will be titled "Sporcle Puzzle Hunt: <Category>", with <Category> filled in by Geography, Entertainment... one of the 15 Sporcle categories.

After you solve all the puzzles (note that they are more than just quizzes, there are puzzles too), you then go to the "Meta Puzzle", and finally the "Final Answer". When all of this is completed, you get a badge.

In short, there is no "starting point" per se; you can start with any of the 15 puzzles. (My suggestion: tackle Holiday or History first... tackle History first, it's the easiest puzzle).

A blog post explaining everything in more detail can be found here: http://www.sporcle.com/blog/2013/02/the-great-sporcle-puzzle-hunt/

I highly recommend you try it. It's extremely fun.

Don't worry. You're not thick. It's just really difficult. Anyone who says they have completed the hunt without any Googling at all is a liar.

Just do as well as you can on each quiz, and try to figure out the puzzle (you don't always need 100% on the quiz to solve the puzzle, and sometimes figuring out the pattern of the puzzle can help you figure out extra answers in the quiz). If you can't solve the puzzle, use Google to fill in extra answers on the quiz until you can.

Awwww pants! Thought I’d just solved this one.

Thought that perhaps the position in the list of the “hidden” answers, led to the letters in the title of each category. An anagram of this spells “Nitpicker” – but alas this doesn’t seem to be the answer…….

If I recall correctly, both of these quizzes used a technique called indexing.

Indexing is a process that involves using numbers to count letters in a word to get a series of letters to form a new word.

I don't want to give too much away, so see what you can do with that.
