Hi there. I'm probably missing something extremely obvious, but I can't figure out how to enter multiple lines in a quiz I'm making. To explain what I mean, I'd like to have multiple lines in my clue, like Geshmonkey has here. http://www.sporcle.com/games/geshmonkey/cc_europe (In Europe and Completely West of Bulgaria are on different lines).

For some reason, I only seem to be able to get the clues all on one line, and that's not working for me. If someone could explain to me what I'm obviously not doing right, I'd appreciate it very much. Thanks.

Thats just the clue written out over and over again, taking out a phrase each time.
F.x
Hint 1:
RED
LARGE
SMOOTH
Hint 2:
RED
LARGE
Hint 3:
RED
There is no trick to it, you have to take the long way.

You can use the tag "<br>" to create a new line.

I think Jeff was more referring to the question of how to get multiple lines in the first place, not necessarily carrying over lines. For two lines I found out you can just use the "Additional Info" column, for more you probably need some markup language?!

Thanks all for the help and advice. The <br> tag worked for me, so I'll use that. Thanks again!

Yeah, to make as many clues as there are on the series I've made, you DO have to extend into the additional info column, otherwise it wouldn't all fit, but I'm glad I got recognised on Sporcle U. so thanks I guess as well.

Actually I just checked out your quiz as well ,it was really good- I was hesitant to letting people use it until I finished the series but now I'm actually really glad someone's taken it

P.S. Thanks also for the note on the quiz, it was really nice of you.

I'm probably being an idiot but I'm having the opposite problem. One of my hints is splitting onto another line when I don't want it to.

Here is the link for those that can access it:

I want to get Tajikistan to stay on the second line. At first I thought it might be too long but some of the other hints are longer.

Thanks

It's displaying normally for me. I don't know what might make it split, but it's not doing it on my computer (I'm using Chrome, if that affects anything..)

It displayed fine for me on my computer, but it split on my phone.

I think this is related to the issue of clickable answers wrapping on an iPad that came up recently — since it's so platform-dependent, trying to solve it might be kind of fruitless in the end, but adding spaces can throw off whatever it is that makes set phrases wrap. I just did a test, and "Silver - Tajikistan" wrapped for me too, but adding a regular space before and after that line (to keep it centered) stopped the wrapping...

I have a related question, so I'll go ahead.  I wanted line breaks in my additional info section because it was a lot.  I tried using the tags and it would just remove them after I saved.  Anybody else have an issue with that?  Eventually, I ended up separating parts with numbers 1), 2), etc.  If I could break them by line it would be neater though.

By 'additional info', do you mean the third column on the 'Data' page or the extra text box on the 'Options' page? If you're talking about the Options page, that always happens and there's no way around it, but <br> can be used in the game note on the 'Game Info' page. If you're referring to the third column on the data page, I don't know what your issue is. It should work.

That helps, thanks.

Thanks for your help everyone, adding a space at both ends seems to have worked.

I was surprised to find out when making this quiz that there's no athletics/track and field subcategory. I expected to find more quizzes considering how successful the US team has been over the years. I suppose the Olympics subcategory would cover a lot of it though.
