Minutes of the K.C.S Special General Body Meeting held at Chicago Community Center on 02/02/13
Agenda for the Pothuyogam(General Body Meeting) was as follows;
1.Get permission from general body to request KCCNA the intention of KCS to host next KCCNA Convention
2. Discussions about the earlier Pothuyogam decisions taken regarding KCCNA Convention committees. Discussion about the KCCNA Convention chairman guidelines put forth by KCCNA
3. Discussion about current affairs of the Knanaya community and Sabha. Discussion to initiate changes to the Rescript issued in 1986 by the Oriental Congregation
4. Constitution review committee.
President, George Thottapuram, presided over the Pothuyogam which started with a prayer at 10.00 AM. Then, on the behalf of Chicago K.C.S, Mr. Thottapuram extended condolences to surviving family members on the sad demises of Mr. Joseph Stephen Puthenpurayil and Mr. Joseph Kanjirathumkal.
Mr. Thottapurm began his address by explaining the agenda items and requested members’ suggestions on each topic on the agenda. Active discussion was followed after certain ground rules for the meeting were established. The following decisions were taken by the General body.
1)General Body authorized K.C.S Executive Committee to offer a bid to KCCNA officially for hosting the 2014 KCCNA Convention
2) General body invalidated the earlier resolution in regards to the election process for KCCNA Convention Chairmanship practiced by Chicago KCS in the past and agreed upon a decision which stated that Chicago KCS will be in compliance fully with guidelines put forth by KCCNA Constitution in regards to the selection process for KCCNA Convention Chairmanship*. As for the positions for the other committee members, General Body came up with an agreement which stated that priority will be given to KCCNA National Council members for these positions and that if there are any positions remaining, KCS members will be informed via KCS Newsletter and official KCS email about these positions and interested members can offer a bid for these positions on a KCS Bid Form. In the event that there are more than one bid on a particular position, KCS EC will try to come up with a compromise. If the attempt for compromise fails, a meeting of Chicago KCS National Council members presided by KCS president shall select the bidder with better aptitude.
3) General Body rejected unanimously the Pastoral Letter (Prot. No. 85/2001) issued by Bishop Mar Jacob Angadiath as it does not align with the core principles and values of Knanaya community in North America. In order to make action plans until the Rescript issued in 1986 by the Oriental Congregation will be changed in accordance with age old ethnic practices of Knanaya community, an Action Council was formed.
Action Council will be comprised of following members;

17) Shibu Mulayanikkunel
The first meeting of Action Council will be held on February 8, 2013 at 7.00 pm at Chicago Community Center.
4) General Body delegated full authority to KCS Executive Committee to form a panel of members in order to make proposals to the General Body for the amendments in the KCS Constitution.
General Body was adjourned around 1.30 PM .
*KCCNA Constitution- Section VII;Convention Chairperson shall be elected from the hosting Member Association by a joint council of the local Executive Committee, The KCCNA National Council members of the hosting Member Association and their regional KCCNA Vice President. The council shall be presided by the President of the hosting Member Association.
