Dear Friends of La Maison Française, Ms. Margaret Morgan Grasselli, curator of the exhibit “Renaissance to Revolution: French Drawings from the National Gallery of Art, 1500–1800” does us the honor of a presentation especially for the patrons of La Maison Française on Wednesday, January 20 at 7 p.m. Ms. Grasselli will share with us her favorite selections from this exceptional collection which is on display at the National Gallery of Art through January 31, 2010. Whether or not you have had the opportunity to visit this exhibition, you will certainly enjoy behind-the-scenes insights into the art of Poussin, Boucher, Watteau, Greuze, Fragonard, and other French artists. The National Gallery of Art's outstanding collection of French old master drawings represents in remarkable richness and breadth the history of French draftsmanship before 1800. The heart of the collection as a whole, now augmented with numerous important recent acquisitions, has never been showcased in a special exhibition. For the first time, the National Gallery of Art presents a selection of approximately 120 of the most significant, beautiful, and representative drawings made over a period of three centuries. WHAT: Favorite French Drawings 1500-1800: An illustrated lecture by NGA curator Margaret Grasselli WHEN: Wednesday, January 20 at 7 p.m. WHERE: La Maison Française, Embassy of France, 4101 Reservoir Rd, NW ADMISSION: FREE - reservations required philippe...@diplomatie.gouv.fr (Provide your surname, first name and the total number of people attending.
