“…als ginge ich über eine Waldlichtung, sähe ins Weite und redete mit mir selbst.” – Hermann Lenz
“…as if I were walking through a clearing in the forest, looking into the distance and talking to myself.”

A sense of quietness and deep intimacy with the landscape is revealed in Bernhard Fuchs’ 11”x11” photos of the landscape around his hometown of Helfenberg, Austria. Now living in Düsseldorf, Fuchs continues to return to his birthplace to replenish his emotional and artistic energy. Over a span of five years, he patiently observed and recorded the landscape, his calm, intense gaze rewarding viewers with immediacy and vitality. The colors of nature and the light as it changes throughout the seasons reflect an inner space in which memories interact with the present.

Works by Bernhard Fuchs (b. 1971), including his series on abandoned automobiles and portraits, have appeared in numerous solo and group shows nationally and internationally.
