Dear Spokes member,

Kent County Council are proposing the creation of a traffic-free cycle route between Whitstable and Herne Bay by improving the path on the northern side of A2990 Old Thanet Way between Church Street, Whitstable and Canterbury Road, Herne Bay. The main reasons behind the proposal are to:

-       Reduce the accident levels involving cyclists on the A2990;

-       Encourage greater attendance by bicycle at Herne Bay High School;

-       Link up with a cycle link that’s being developed by Canterbury City Council between the new Oyster Bay Trail and Herne Bay High School.

Details of the scheme can be found online here:

http://www.kent.gov.uk/publications/transport-and-streets/A2990-proposed-cycle-route.htm

The Spokes committee wholeheartedly support this proposal and we’d very much appreciate if you could offer your support to the scheme as well. Your views need to arrive with KCC by Monday 2nd November. They can be addressed to:

Kent Highway Services

Transport & Development Team (Canterbury & Thanet)

Ashford Highway Depot

Henwood Industrial Estate

Javelin Way

Ashford

Kent

TN24 8AD

or, alternatively, via an email to td.canterb...@kent.gov.uk

or, finally, via a link on the above-mentioned website.

Many thanks,
