Because I have iTunes in the default configuration, it doesn't
automatically download every program in my collection, and there are
some programs that I don't want to download or ever listen to. They're
in my collection because I'm following someone else, but I don't want
to listen to everything he collects. I'd like to use iTunes to remove
these items from my collection, but as things are now I can't do so
unless I first download them, then delete them.

So I'm wondering: Is it possible that when I remove *un-downloaded*
items from my Podcast list in iTunes to send the Remove to
SpokenWord.org? Or do I have to either (a) download the files first,
or (b) go to the web site? (Using 0.2 on OS X.)

We're not able to do that, since iTunes keeps an internal pointer to podcasts not downloaded yet.  We don't have access to that.

You can let iTunes download the file, then mark it as "Not New", if you want to skip it.

Hi Doug and Norm,
I think that any solution that requires that you download something that you don't want to download so that you can delete won't work, for one thing, because you can't control the number of programs are in the other persons collection.
For Doug, this kind of ties in to what I was saying about the problem of managing these feed. If I'm following your collection, and you suddenly add 30 programs to it and the limit on items displayed in the RSS feed is 30 I could push out all of your own collection without even knowing it.  I wasn't thinking through various scenarios last week and getting a headache.

Do you have a model of how you're thinking the system will function? It might help. All of this is going to get confusing pretty fast.

Hmmm...good point. To re-state, if the RSS feed contains only 30
programs, then adding 40 (for example) means you'll never see ten of
them.

We may have to switch the RSS feeds to include *everything* in your
collections.

And I'm in the process of implementing a limit for collections.
