Hi,
I looked for instructions and evidence that the connector wouldn't
work with OpenID but didn't find anything along those lines. Should
this be working? Do I need to create another account with SpokenWord
in order to use this utility?

Thanks for taking the time to create this utility. It is a great idea
as far as I'm concerned and would be fun to use with all my podcasts.

Thanks again,
Chad

Hi, Chad.

OpenID just slipped my mind for the Connector.

(Norm: Is that reasonable to add to the spec? I've done it for the web
site, so I might be able to point you to the right libraries.)

The web site's implementation of OpenID isn't quite (yet) what some
people expect. If you have an OpenID on SpokenWord.org, then you also
have a username and password. We just associate one or more OpenIDs
with that identity. So, Chad, you should be able to retrieve your
username/password for temporary use with the Connector.

In the future I may allow people to register with only an OpenID *if*
the OpenID provider sends us back an email address. Other sites are
getting some spam OpenID registrants if they bypass the verify-by-
email step, which is why I haven't done that so far.

I'm not sure how we do this outside a browser.  I've never seen OpenID used in a client application.

Hmmm...good observation. (I'm glad one of us is capable of rational thought!).

I think you may be right. While we can fire off an HTTP request to the OpenID provider, I think that site will try to redirect back to our site as an acknowledgment. We'd have to catch that response on the server. Might be possible. Might be almost all server-side work. Gotta think about this one.

And now OAuth has become more important. May need to look into that, too.

Hi Doug,
I'll look into recovering my username/password and get cracking with
the connector.

Thanks for the response,
Chad
