Epson Event Manager For Windows is software that gives you access to all the main features of your Epson product. This program was designed to support different Epson scanners. It allows you to scan as PDF, scan to PC, scan and email documents, and many other functions. The Epson Event Manager listens to events that have triggered the scanner function of Epson printers and all-in-one devices.
The buttons on a scanner are normally referred to as 'dumb button' as when pressed all they do is generate a set signal, which the computer then responds to. These are generally termed Device Events, an 'event' that is initiated by a device but controlled by the computer.
The buttons on the scanner let you automatically open scanning software and scan your image to a program or file. The illustration below shows a scanner with four event buttons, however the number of buttons will vary depending on your scanner model. Some Epson All-In-One products have a 'push button' feature but have just one button. This function is supported when the Epson device is connected to a computer via a cable connection such as USB or FireWire.
Normally when a scanner button is pressed the selected program will open and initiate a scan. If more than one program has been selected on the Events tab then you will be prompted to select one of these programs from the dialogue box that appears. Only the programs that will support device events will be listed here. If a program is not listed then it cannot be associated with a scanner button.
If you want to be given a choice of programs whenever you press the selected button, select more than one program in the list. If you want to disable the button from opening a program, click the Disable device events button instead.
In Windows 10, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners > click your scanner in the list and make sure the device is powered on and connected > Manage button > Scanner Properties link (visible only if the scanner is online) > Properties button > Allow changes to device: Yes > Events tab > for each of 4 scanner events in dropdown menu, set the action to Start this program: Epson Event Manager

By using Adobe Analytics to look into the customer checkout journey, Epson discovered that a high number of customers were bouncing from the website on a page where they were asked to identify themselves as a guest or returning customer. The company theorized that customers were getting confused by the layout of the page, leading customers to fill out information in both guest and returning customer fields. This would prevent successful checkout, and customers would simply bounce from the website.

Serigrafia SIGN and FutureTEXTIL, the largest sign, screen, textile and digital imaging exhibition in South America, has achieved over 45,000 visitors to this year's event, which took place from 18 to 27 July 2012 in São Paulo, Brazil. Organised by BTS Informa and hosted in the Expo Center Norte, around 600 national and international exhibitors, up from 450 in 2011, showcased its latest developments over 36,000m2 floor space - 4000m2 bigger than the previous year.
Trevor Crawford, Director of the Print & Media Group at Informa Exhibitions, commented,"The increase in both visitor and exhibitors numbers at this year's Serigrafia SIGN and FutureTEXTIL is testimony to the strength and growth of the Latin American market and faith in the Informa brand. As the only event in this region that brings such a wide range of print industries together on one show floor, we are confident that the wide format, signage, digital imaging and textile sectors in the Latin American market will continue to benefit from our long term development of the show."
Visitors were able to view a wide and diverse range of products - from software and other personalisation equipment to wide format printers - on exhibitor stands. For instance, Imprimax launched a new car wrapping technology, which sees the final product turn to film after it's been cured, while Flockcolor showcased screen printers and heat presses for stamping equipment, as well as a flocking system for a velvet effect on clothes and other textiles.
Industry giants Epson and HP were amongst the suppliers representing the digital print market. "Serigrafia SIGN and FutureTEXTIL is the most important trade show in this market," said Evelin Wanke, Epson's Wide Format Specialist. "It provides the ideal opportunity for us to showcase the advantages of our large format equipment to a high calibre audience."
HP introduced its latest latex ink and UV equipment, which is ideal for POS, textile signs, car wraps and a range of other applications, to the Latin American market. Edissa Furlan, Marketing and Communications Manager, HP, states: "This exhibition is the ideal platform for us to present a variety of applications to print service providers, giving them the opportunity to consider the new opportunities our equipment could offer."
Exhibitors representing the signage market also commented on the success of the event, which allowed them to generate new sales leads and build relationships with existing customers. Patricia Serigrafia, Marketing Manager for adhesive manufacturer Colacril, comments: "For us, Serigrafia SIGN and FuturTEXTIL is still a very important exhibition to attend, and this year's show has again been a great one for us. Not only did it provide us with the ideal opportunity to launch our new products, but we also saw a number of new prospects on our stand."
Saturno, which launched its new digital printer and inks portfolio, is also pleased with the business they've done during the show: "Serigrafia SIGN and FuturTEXTIL exceeded our expectations regarding high calibre visitor attendance - we even had a number of international visitors on our stand," says Cauê Contartezi. "We have sold all our printers during the show, and have more orders to fulfil."
This year's show also saw the official launch of Ipex Digital Latin America, an event for the growing commercial digital print market in Brazil and wider Latin America. The inaugural event, which is taking place at the Transamerica Expo Center, São Paulo, Brazil from 2 - 5 October 2013, will be complimented by a strong content programme with conferences and other learning opportunities on subjects such as trans promo, variable data, applications, direct mail, cross media applications as well as colour management and web to print technologies.
