Dave was the master of the OddRoc. I am part of the WAC meeting on OddRocs next week (my focus was on Jack O'Conney), but would also like to collect pictures of Dave's rockets and do a bit of a memorial to him as part of my time. Please send them to me at marty...@comcast.net

So very sad to hear this news.

Dave was a unique treasure. His passion for rockets, especially odd rockets was something that not only did he enjoy but which filled all of us with joy. From design, to flight, to the name of the rocket his passion showed.

He was the master of the swing test and "heft and guess". RockSim and OpenRocket couldn't hold a candle to Dave. The algorithms in Dave's head put them to shame.

Dave frequently rode with me to the rocket launches out of Tri-Cities. He loved his conspiracy theories not so much because he believed strongly in conspiracies but more because I think he enjoyed the intellectual avenues that the conversations opened. He was very curious about things. He didn't always accept conventional wisdom and really enjoyed exploring alternative views of things that we all take for granted.

His creativity of course wasn't limited to rockets. He was a master craftsman with stained glass. Whether it be a new creation or repairing a priceless piece, he was a true craftsman.

My life is fuller and richer for knowing you, Dave. Rest in peace my friend.

Alan

I'm so sad to learn this.  Dave was always such a joy to be around.  His rockets were certainly legendarily unique. However, he was also deeply kind to all. I appreciated his give-aways to the kids over the years. My kids shagged many a rocket for Dave over the last few years, and they always enjoyed talking to him and seeing his outlandish creations.

He will be deeply missed.

Do we know if/when there will be a memorial?

Stay tuned on any memorial information.
I'm scheduled to go pick up his rocket stuff (for future give-a-ways) tomorrow.

Dave was great for the hobby and a pleasure to talk to.  He was such a creative soul.  Whenever I think of my launches with SPARC, he sticks out as a bright spot in them.
