You can NOT change the Lead Unit in Proposal Development once you've saved the record. Refer to
this guidance for more on how to change Lead Unit in PD. You CAN change the Lead Unit in Institutional Proposal and Award. The process is similar, so the guidance here is for IP since (typically) you need apply a unit update to both the IP record and the AWD record (if there is one).
1. Search for and open the record you need to modify. Scroll to the bottom of the screen to click the edit button and navigate to the tab: Contacts.

2. As unlikely as it may seem, the Lead Unit designation is in the section for Project Personnel (vs. Unit Contacts).


3. Enter the unit number (or search and find it) and CLICK add:

4. Now select the new unit AND delete the old one:

5. Submit the change to finalize the record by navigating to Institutional Proposal Actions tab and scroll to the bottom where the submit button resides.

6. Want to check your work? On the same tab open the Print section > Print Notice and click Print to check the resulting PDF for the Lead Unit confirmation:


7. If all is well, close the record. You're done!
