Kuali Coeus software is a comprehensive system for research administration, beginning with proposal preparation and continuing to close-out. KC provides a set of tools and modules that make research administration easier and more efficient and reduce the need for shadow systems.

Kuali in Malaysia is a small wok. Similarly in the Philippines, the wok is known as kawali. Both are homages to the original Kuali software developer's cultures.

Coeus was one of the Titans, the giant sons and daughters of Uranus (Heaven) and Gaia (Earth). Coeus was a god of intellect who represented the inquisitive mind and rational intelligence, the yin to the yang of Phoebe who symbolized prophetic wisdom.
