What do the proposal statuses mean?

When you search for a proposal it's handy to limit your search by the status (if you know it). Here are all the statuses in Proposal Development:

In-Process States
In Progress	> A new proposal has been created. > The proposal has not yet been saved.
In Progress	> A newly created proposal has been saved. The proposal is ready for further work and updating. > Approval routing has not been initiated.
Approval Pending -Changes Requested	> Approval routing is in progress > Changes were requested by an approver(s)
Approval Pending	> Proposal’s approval routing has started and is in progress. > Proposal has not yet been submitted to the sponsor.
Approval  Granted	> Proposal is approved by all signing officials. > The proposal is not yet submitted to the sponsor.
Approval Not Initiated – Submitted***	> Proposal was submitted to sponsor. > The routing for approval process has not started.
Approval Pending – Submitted***	> Proposal has been submitted to sponsor. > The process for obtaining approval is in progress.
Final States
Approved and Submitted	> Proposal has been successfully submitted to the sponsor and all it has been approved.
Disapproved	> Proposal has been rejected outright during approval routing.  The document is no longer available for editing and must be copied to a new document for the content to be re-used.
Approved  Post-Submission***	>  Proposal is approved after a proposal is submitted to the sponsor.
Disapproved Post-Submission***	>  Proposal is rejected after a proposal is submitted to the sponsor.
Canceled	>  Work on a proposal is terminated and the document access is now View Only. The proposal was not routed for approval nor submitted to the sponsor. Document can be copied but is not available for further work.
Document Error Occurred	> Proposal processing is terminated due to an error.

***These statuses should rarely happen -- only in irregular circumstances when a proposal is submitted to a sponsor without institutional knowledge and we're routing it for post-submission review and authorization.
