Thank you to everyone who attended our athletics committee meeting. We had a great turnout with 5 people joining online and 3 in person. We have an exciting season ahead with more "hands on deck" than ever, and we are looking forward to growing this program together!
Volleyball Season (August – October)Coaching Staff:
Chad Buchan: Volleyball Program Lead and 5th/6th Grade Coach. Chad has also agreed to help out with all teams as needed.
Adam Bazer: 7th/8th Grade Coach.
Seeking Coach: We are currently looking for a coach for the 3rd/4th grade team. Chad has agreed to assist with this team as well.
Registration:
Dates: Online registration opens June 1st. All registrations must be submitted by the league deadline on July 1st.
Eligibility: Boys and girls in 3rd–8th grades. League Rule: Boys are required to play two grades up.
Management: Registration and payments will be handled by Cathy Banks.
Goal: We are focused on maintaining proper team sizes this year to avoid the overcrowding issues we experienced last season.
Uniforms:
Every player will receive two jerseys: one for regular games and one "Pink Out" jersey.
Material: Performance-type material.
Customization: Players can choose between long sleeve or short sleeve and select their jersey number (first-come, first-served).
Game Play & Facilities: With more volunteers this year, we are opening our gym for as many home games as possible. We hope to host the end-of-season tournament to capitalize on our momentum.
In place of a traditional summer camp, we will begin practices earlier in the summer. While these are optional, they are highly encouraged so the teams can find their groove before the official season begins.
Basketball Summer Camp (Grades 5th–8th)Hosted by Jordan Duabas and Sean Keetle, this 6-week program focuses on fundamentals, skill enhancement, and conditioning.
Schedule: Sundays, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
Cost: $125 (includes a camp t-shirt, water, and snacks).
Goal: To ensure our athletes hit the ground running when the basketball season starts in December.
As we transition to our new committee format, communication is our top priority. We are looking for parents to fill the following roles:
Management Roles: Uniform Manager, Equipment Manager, Concessions Manager, and Game Day Manager.
Team Parents: This role is back! Team parents will coordinate adult volunteers for concessions, admissions, and the scorebook for all home games.
Communications Team:
Social Media: Managing Facebook and Instagram (creative free range!).
Weekly Newsletter: Assisting with the "Week of SPN Athletics" updates.
There will be a mandatory parent meeting to go over expectations for the season. We are so grateful for the parents stepping up to help. Let’s make this the best year yet!
