Hi all,

As promised, here is the rest of Chapter 3: Interpretation.

Currently, it is 15 pages long without the case studies. I’ve revised 6 pages of it, mainly the technical sections and any introductory material needed to expand the contents to 6 levels of forms.

You all have about 9 pages of sensory processing content to revise, but I think your work can be mainly to make it reflect the lifespan. I don’t think it needs to be any longer, just more diverse

Your Instructions (if you don’t mind me getting a little wonky about the process):

·         All of my work is in red: if you have any suggestions for me, please use a comment to explain your suggestion. Please do not “track changes” within the red sections – it will only confuse me.

·         All of your work is in black; please revise existing content to whatever extent you wish.

·         Blue/highlight: these are placeholders or reminders for me or other departments about some things we don’t know yet

·         Here is a list of the sections of chapter 3, color-coded.

Introduction

SPM-2 Forms

Standard Scores and Interpretive Ranges

Interpreting the SPM-2 Scales

            Intro

SPM-2 Scales

Child School Environments

Teen and Adult Driving Environments

Close

Comparing Sensory Function Across Forms

Interpretation of Item Responses

Further Interpretive Considerations

Disorders With Sensory Processing Involvement

CASE STUDIES [placeholder]

SPM-2 QT [placeholder]

By page count, most of your work is mainly the second two thirds of the chapter. I think you all are mostly finished with the case studies, so you can just append them to the chapter before you send it back to me.

Let me know if you have any questions.

J

Just curious if you have an idea in your head of deadline for this?

To my mind, it doesn't need much work, but you will have to see. Maybe after you've all read it you can get back to me with an estimate of how much time you think need to finish it — before the holidays would be great. Then I can send you more :)

Hi John,
Thank you for sending such detailed and easy to follow color coded instructions!

We met yesterday. Your Chapter 3 is now on a separate Google doc which we worked on together, going over some general questions I had.

The plan is to each work on the doc (with specific jobs for each of us) adding to the doc when we can (following your instructions).

FYI, we will upload at least 1 (or 2) case studies for each age group.

We will meet again Mon Nov 6 via Go To Meeting to review our work. Getting this chapter done before the holidays seems like a good possibility.

Best,
Diana

Sounds great everybody. I am still working on chapter 5 and will do 2 next, also before the holidays. And then that will be it for the manual for a while – most everything else is results of data collection, editorial, peer review, and design.

We’ll see where we are with data collection and hope to select final items for at least some of the forms soon.

Hi John,
Would you be able to provide us with an overview re data collection, at this time?
I think you were hoping to receive more after the start of this fall semester.

Have you received enough data for each of the age groups and environments for us to obtain good psychometric results?

Thanks in advance for the update.
Diana

Hi all,

We need about 50% of the data to select the items on any given form, and we need to select the final items before we can run any of the analyses of interest.

Kailey is going to run another check on the numbers across all our form. Toward the end of the summer we had about 20% of our cases in. I’ll let you know what the current % is when I get it.

Hi John,
I thought it would be helpful to give you an update re our work on SPM-2 Chapter 3.

Several of us have been reviewing on our own and meeting weekly, using Google Doc to each make our comments and edits per your instructions.

Because there have been some changes in terminology at AOTA, we have been discussing how to integrate this information in the SPM-2.

Our plan is to "clean up" our Google Doc (accepting changes when appropriate) and sending you the link after our Monday morning call on Dec 18th, for you to review.

At that time we plan to provide you with the information re the terminology changes.  AOTA is hoping to have these completed and available to present at the AOTA Conference in Utah as updated "Practice Guidelines".

You had asked to have this work back to you by the holidays. This is our goal!

Wishing you and your loved ones a very Happy Thanksgiving celebration.

Diana
