InJune, Philips Hue introduced two new variants of the Surimu LED panel. After there were previously only two large ceiling lights, the Hue Surimu is now also available as a square variant with an edge length of 30 centimetres for 229.99 euros and as a round variant with a diameter of 39.5 centimetres for 239.99 euros.

The way the Hue Surimu is packaged is also praiseworthy. Philips Hue does it without plastic completely, instead the ceiling light is fixed by cardboard and is also protected from scratches and damages by a fabric cover.

The assembly itself is not a big hurdle. First, a bracket is attached to the ceiling with two screws, the necessary material is not included and should be chosen by you according to the material of the ceiling. A small challenge compared to the round version is the straight alignment in the room, I measured the distance of the two drill holes to the wall for this. The rectangular holes in the bracket also give you a little leeway.

As soon as the bracket is mounted on the ceiling, the Hue Surimu can be hung up with two carabiners. This makes connecting the power lines much easier. As soon as the power supply is established, the LED panel is simply hooked into the bracket, fortunately no further screws are used.

For the guest bathroom (without shower or bathtub), a Hue Aurelle with the simpler White Ambiance technology would certainly have sufficed. In general, however, the Hue Surimu can be installed in all rooms of your choice, only in damp bathrooms it officially has no place. I might also see the small Surimu in rooms with several lighting points on the ceiling, as you can see at the official product photo on the top of this article.

This model is still quite new on the market, so sooner or later the price will probably drop below 200 euros. Paulmann offers a significantly cheaper version, but only with White Ambiance technology, with the Velora ZigBee ceiling light for less than 100 euros.

I also immediately noticed that the Philips Hue Centris should be much easier to install than previous Hue ceiling lights. Here I reluctantly think back to my Aurelle panel, where mounting it on the ceiling was a cramp, even with two people.

Before I finally attach the Cross model with its three LEDs, each with 350 lumens and the permanently integrated LED module with 1,800 lumens, I will give you some more impressions of the ceiling light in the following video in german language. Thanks also to Proshop.de, who were able to provide me with the Centris at a relatively low price.

Do want to replace the entire light or just the bulb? If you want new lights and they should fit the current holes, then a diameter of the hole might be important. If you just want new bulbs, then a socket type is needed.

What connectivity do you want? WiFi, Matter, ZigBee, Z-wave or some other protocol?

What smart features are you looking for?

Just on/off or also dimming and/or color changing?

So literally the only smart downlight I can find is there Lumary (Tuya) downlight. But they keep on losing connection. And my router is about 10ft away clear sight, so its not a signal strength issue.

Lumary makes zigbee versions but those are only available in recessed lighting. I need disk lighting as the only thing above there to mount to is the electrical box itself. (Unless i tear apart the fake ceiling which I want no part of)

Thanks for the links but all those are too big. I should have been more specific, I need small ones, like 5 or 6" OD ( I have a 3.5" J-box that the light must attach to). All those are big ones meant to light an entire room.

I was really excited after installing and switching on the lamp, it looks as bright as I expected. Then, I proceeded to install the Mi Home app to control the light. Here, a terrible issue comes up. I successfully connected to the lamp but when I tapped on it within the app, nothing happened. The app only shows me if the lamp is on or off, and there is nothing else I can do. This is a huge disappointment because I expected I could use the app to adjust brightness, color temperature, or change to the moonlight mode (only the center of the lamp lights up). It seems like Xiaomi disabled the app control and our only option is to buy the remote control which costs extra $20.

In my opinion, the Xiaomi Yeelight ceiling lamp is a more attractive option. It is not only cheaper but it also works better; It is supported by Google Home / Assistant, so I can use voice commands to control it. I only recommend the Xiaomi MiJia Philips Smart LED ceiling lamp if you are looking for a brighter lamp and ready to spend more $20 for the remote control.

Hello, have this lamp mounted and try to connect with the MiHome App. When the lamp is updated, the lamp flashes in the middle and at 65% it stops flashing. The% run very slowly up to 100% and the time is too much. Wifi of the lamp is off. Now the lamp has to be reset. Wifi is forthcoming. The connection to the Mihome must be restarted. Why?

Can someone help me. Why is Wifi interrupted? What am I doing wrong.

Is anyone able to use this Phillip E27 without selecting China Mailnand Server? I can only find this Phillips E27 if the connecting server is China Mainland, however, others products like Mi Roborock is now unable to use the China Mainland server, seems Xiaomi is not doing a great job supporting all its products worldwide, Australians consumers lacks server and product support locally. Xiaomi and Phillips needs to rectify this for consumers outside China mainland.

A typical Philips Hue personal wireless LED lighting setup consists of a Philips Hue bridge and one or more Philips Hue bulbs. The devices connect to each other via the ZigBee communication protocol and therefore should be backwards compatible.

Over the years there have been 3 generations of Philips Hue released:

If you own(ed) an original Hue Bridge and wish to install a new Hue Bridge you will likely wish to continue to use the older bulbs possibly with some additional new bulbs if you avail of one of the starter kits.

The old bulbs and new Hue Bridge are compatible however you may experience some issues when using standard methods to try to find the old bulbs from the new Hue Bridge.

Read on for more information on the standard methods then alternative method to detect and connect to the old bulbs.

My lights work almost perfect, except that about 30 minutes before time for them to shut off (I keep them dimmed almost always), they get very bright, but they do shut off at the right time. Any ideas how I can keep them from getting BRIGHT on us? Thanks!

I have hue strip lighting I cannot find lights it asked for serial number on lights I tried everything I could not have the lights come on and off it asked for six characters and light strip please let me know where to find that

If you are unable to connect your Philips Hue Light Bulb or Phillips Hue Bridge or Philips Hue LED Light Strip, you can do the following easy steps. You can use this method if you Lost Serial on Phillips Hue Light Strip, or Missing Phillips Hue Light Strip Serial. Use this method if you have exercised all other options.

The Philips Hue Dymera wall light combines functionality and style, offering individual control over two beams of light that shine up and down. With its sophisticated black design, Dymera is suitable for both indoors and outdoors, where it can illuminate large surfaces with warm-to-cool white and color light. Using the Philips Hue app, each light can be dimmed or brightened while changing the colors individually. You can also set a scene from the scene gallery for a more cohesive look.
