Dear Majoe (and all you other wonderful sisters who may be reading
this message to Majoe),

Thank you for your emails and your sweet compliments. I appreciate
both! Although I have not had any tours this month, I've somehow been
very busy; so please excuse my delay in writing back to you.

I did spend a fast and wonderful three days in DC (late April) meeting
other ELO's and program officers and learning about changes to the IVP
program in an ELO Training Workshop. (You are all lucky you are not
coming in the future, because the airlines have imposed a $25 fee and
more expensive overweight charged for all 2nd suitcases...so, you can
imagine the chaos we'll have for a while now at airports and the
amount of post office trips we'll have to make from now on!) Best of
all, it was wonderful to meet so many ELO's from all over the country,
brand new to those who've done this for 40 yrs. (!) I learned alot
and was also able to pass on some of my own "tips", and of course,
tell many tales of the fabulous groups I've had, like YOU! And,
following Rubab's lead...I am trying to create a Googlegroup for ELO's
to stay in contact with each other, and like you, they are slow to
respond because of busy lives and schedules. But, just like visitors,
we learn best from each other's experiences. So, staying in touch in
key...

On Mother's Day, I was thinking of all the wonderful mothers in our
group, and the women who are not yet mothers, but should be! I still
dream of finding a way to be a mother someday (to a child, not just to
wonderful adults) before I'm too old to be able to enjoy it...but, my
priorities for the moment are finding a nice, affordable house to buy
and doing more tours for the State Dept. The housing market collapse
here in the U.S. has, finally, made it possible for me to consider
owning something, with the financial assistance of my parents. I feel
so blessed to have them and their support. My dream is to have
something large enough to have a room for guests, and/or space to
build up my massage practice again, a fireplace for cozy winters, and
a little garden or nice balcony to enjoy the sunny days. Wish me
luck!

I am trying to get my Skype account up and running...if you are not
familiar with it, it is a way for people to call each other for FREE
over the Internet...all you need is a microphone for your computer.
So, maybe we'll be able to talk to each other again soon.

So, my dear Majoe, keep cooking, keep mentoring those young women in
S. Leone, and keep in touch! Maybe someday soon I can come to your
country and YOU can mother ME for a short time! : )

All my best. Here's to peace and good health for you and all our
sisters, and our families...

Ellen

p.s. I will try and remember to forward the last message I received
from my former Sierra Leonean visitor whom we talked about...Momoh. I
hope you get it. Maybe you two can work together somehow, since you
both had such great experiences with our visitor program.
