Let It Grow: Third Root Celebrates 5

Anniversary Gala : Sept 28, 2013

Third Root Community Health Center opened its doors at 380 Marlborough Road after 7 months of renovations, visioning, business planning, website building, and more. When we opened, we had 2 yoga classes per day, two volunteers, and 7 of us who owned the space, showing up so many days in a row just waiting for clients and students to show up. There were many slow days of 1-2 clients, or classes with 3 or fewer students. And there has always been love, which Eisa Davis termed our "Active Ingredient". |
We celebrate 5 years of not only opening our doors during the economic crash of 2008, not only surviving as a business in New York City for five years, but five years of building community, serving clients, contributing to national conversations around the role of healing in our communities and justice movements. There is a lot to celebrate, so go ahead and get your ticket!

We have started a successful Herbal Education Program, contributing to more healers in our communities.
We have launched a non-profit branch, TREE, which enables us to continue the healing justice work while enhancing our collective financial sustainability!
We have created community here in Ditmas Park and Flatbush, we have clients come from Bed-Stuy and Harlem, and we have helped other health centers start up around the country!

Come celebrate what Third Root has meant to you (so we've heard):
- the acupuncture treatment when you couldn't turn your stiff neck
- the prenatal massage that moved things along in the final hours
- the surgery kits for your beloved trans friends having surgery
- the Gentle yoga classes that allow you to come in your body as it is
- the Abundant Body yoga class that was brought back onto our yoga schedule by popular demand
