JOURNAL CLUB RULES

Hi, 

this is the entry with the JOURNAL CLUB rules  and a proposed calendar.  The main goals of this activity are: 

1. To keep us informed of the relevant literature
2. To use discussion to clarify research topics
3. To practice writing skills

Every Journal club session will have a paper, an announcement date, a  discussion leader and two  deadlines. You are all welcome to propose papers for this activity. 

The discussion leaders and the calendar for the first sessions are given below.

The Journal Club sessions will be announced by me  as a post in this GROUP (on the announcement date).  

The  role of the  discussion leader  is: 

• To read the paper 
• Write a very short summary (half a page or less) before the first deadline and post it in the entry
• To post  a few questions  in the entry so that you all discuss in this forum (the discussion leader is entitled not to know the answers)

The role of everybody else is to complete the following tasks before the second deadline:

• To read the paper and the summary prepared by the discussion leader
• Post (at least) one doubt about the paper in reply to the entry
• Try to answer the questions addressed by the discussion leader.

 Try to keep the discussion politically correct:  these discussions might be shown to persons external to SPINOGRAPH.
