Themore I fight with connecting a brand new Garmin Zumo XT to Garmin Basecamp (Mac version) software I can't help but think either the Zumo XT is a poor quality product and/or the Basecamp software is in some stage of Beta version.

I've spent 7 hours today fighting with what feels like a substandard glitchy product. My new Macbook with Basecamp recognized the ZumoXT on Monday but not Tuesday. And I bought this as an "upgrade" to my Garmin Montana. HUGE MISTAKE

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been a faithful Garmin product user (boats, planes, cars and dirtbikes) for over 20 years and this is the first Garmin product that feels buggy and overpriced.

Folks are using the XT with BaseCamp without problems. Ensure Express isn't set to open automatically when a device is connected. Once you've done so restart your Mac. If the XT still isn't connecting check this FAQ

Happy for your success and I like the celebrations....unfortunately for me no such luck yet following the steps. The ZumoXT still says "Garmin.com/express" although Garmin Express no longer auto-boots on computer so that may be good. BaseCamp has yet to find the XT (although it had in the past prior to operating software updates), and any attempt to work in BaseCamp results in a spinning beachball for about 3 minutes. Pulled out a PC last night and loaded all through there. I'm a longtime MAC user but worked a lot easier on PC.

To this day BaseCamp still gets confused by Time Capsule shares and wants to perform the misguided design defect automatic scan of those volumes for Garmin stuff, as if it might be an SD card. But only if your root file system is case sensitive. If insensitive it is hard coded to ignore Time Capsule.

Open Express>Preferences then make sure both both boxes are unchecked ("Always keep Garmin Express running..." and "Automatically launch Garmin Express..."). If Express is running then it won't allow the connection to BC to complete.

I'm using a PC but still Basecamp crashes when I connect my Zumo XT. Express boxes are unchecked. I have restarted everything numerous times. I've reinstalled basecamp and Express twice. The only way to get maps is to copy and paste into the GPX folder of the XT, but even then some routes won't load. I'm going on a cross country trip in May and I need this fixed. Maybe I should try it on my wifes newer PC Laptop. Any other ideas?

Same issue here bobzinger. Trying simultaneously on a Mac (on the Mac it does not recognize the XT, so different problem). What I did so far on the Windows PC was to install the map (through javawa.nl) on the hard drive, but still it freezes after it does recognize the XT. It has 8GB intern memory. So curious to see if there are any solutions coming by here (since the above suggestions did also not work for me).

I have noticed that recently, there have been reports that Basecamp is not working with the Fenix 7X since the recent firmware update, but both seem to have been closed so I cannot add my experiences. I can confirm that this is also the case for me:

Same problem since update. Now I`ve found that the tracks sent draging to the device folder in basecamp go to the gpx folder instead of courses folder and my device can`t never read into that. So now its imposible to load a track to follow

Unfortunately Ive lost also my language folder

My device is a Fenix 7 Saphire Solar

can any of you send the spanish language folder zipped?

TenStopardi y can send you the maps zipped but the file es sure too large.

For those that own a handheld outdoor GPS device, the map will load from the device. For those that have bought maps on a microSD/SD card over the years for their handheld device, the map will still load through Basecamp.

If you are asking how to load a map that is licensed to be used on your watch, the map will not be able to be transferred to computer memory to be viewed using Basecamp until the current issue is resolved.

does this mean that any map that we are currently can download as "Garmin Compatible" e.g. OSM or even local Garmin supported formats for trail run, hike etc. would not be usable in the future? These would today be installed on PC/Mac, be visible in Basecamp and sent to the device with MapInstall.

Is basecamp still the software to use to plan routes on the PC for uploading to Drivesmart 51? I have been useing basecamp for a long time now and because it seemed to not be able to plot a route from Barcelona to Basel I started to look for any problems in the latest update or windows update..

First I found that Basecamp is no longer supported, then I found that Mapsource was now the one to use. I then found that Basecamp replaced Mapsource. I have also found a reference to Homeport, which I also found was no longer supported.

I would say that the problem creating a route btw. Barcelona and Basel is a problem of the map you use. With the official Garmin maps I never found a problem routing very long distances. If I try to do the same with my bycicle map then it's impossible.

BaseCamp development has stopped but it's still the way to plan routes for your DS51, I've used it for years to do exactly that. What issue are you having plotting a route from Barcelona to Basel? Where is it failing? I'm assuming you're using the Garmin CN EU map and that you've installed it to your PC so that BaseCamp can use it? I've just created that route without issue in BaseCamp

Note Homeport is aimed at devices used on water and that BaseCamp replaced MapSource over 10 years ago, although you can still download it from Garmin and it works with many older devices, and even very modern ones if they work in mass storage mode.

I replied to the first answer before I saw yours. I have the map City_Navigator_Europe_NTU_2024_20.gmap on the PC (something you advised me to do years ago now) and as I said in the other reply, you select the icon to open Basecamp and nothing happens for quite a while then it says it is loading but takes a long time. With regard to the route plotting the progress bar slowly gets to about half way the doesn't seem to progress any further

I Sussamb, I have found the problem! Don't ask me how it happened but the Activity Profile was set to HICKING, it isn't surprising that it would take a long time to find a hicking route between Barcelona and Basel.

Garmin Leslie you are closing all the threads down with GPSmap67 questions as not inReach as far as I can see the issues are exactly the same for the GPSMap67i inreach models with exactly the same issues.

The GPSMap67i inReach model in system settings - usb mode has exactly the same options as the GPSMap67 i.e either MTP or Garmin, I have also tried a GPSMap67i at work and cannot get Basecamp software on a Mac to recognise the device, MTP usb setting on a Mac does not work with Basecamp software on a Mac, will you be adding Garmin Serial to the usb settings on the GPSMap67i that does work with the GPSMap66i and Basecamp for Mac ?

I have tried this extensively. I have managed to get the device showing on basecamp but the maps will just not load. I tried for about 24hours over the course of 8-10 days. tonight I spent 2.5 hrs waiting for maps to try and load and it was impossible. The maps will not show up on basecamp. All my software is up to date on all devices. I have tried on two MacBooks. The device is unusable for me

Hi Garmin-Leslie, to be honest the advice in the article you link to doesn't make a lot of sense. It tells you to install Android File Transfer, and then to fully quit the application. What is then the use of having Android File Transfer installed? It does not installl any extensions that enable MTP support on MacOS whatsoever.

For me (and Nikolechat in this thread) what is needed to get the unit recognized in Basecamp is to fully quit Garmin Express. Since only one application can use the MTP connection, Basecamp won't see the unit if Garmin Express is running and the unit is connected.

And even when Basecamp recognizes the GPSMAP 67 series, it still has problems loading the maps on it. For example on with unit Basecamp only shows the DEM EU Map, but the TopoActive maps are shown as "Valid Chart Product Not Found".

Since the GPSMAP 67 series will not show up as a Volume or Drive in Finder, you must use a utility like Android File Transfer to directly access files on the unit. But again it is not required to have Basecamp recognize the unit.

I have a Garmin 66ST with no SD card and about 30 waypoints. I am using basecamp 4.4.6 on a new windows 10 Lenovo PC. Very fast laptop.

Garmin Express says GPS is current with all software/firmware.

As for taking a while initially, this is due to BaseCamp having to index the maps so BaseCamp can read them off your device. Mapsource is unable to do this, which is one of the benefits of BaseCamp. However once the maps are indexed BaseCamp too will load in seconds. I suspect you're not leaving your device connected long enough to allow the indexing to finish, so it tries again etc etc. Keep it connected until the indexing completes, you should see a moving thin green line under the internal storage folder in the bottom left hand pane, when it disappears indexing is complete.

I rarely use basecamp, but due to a waypoint problem I wanted to use basecamp to see if that would solve the problem. Yesterday evening I connected my watch and I left it connected during the night. Now more then 14 hours later basecamp still hasn't finished indexing. Is this normal?

The instructions for importing the maps on the Basecamp wiki suggest that double clicking the .gmapi file will invoke MapManager to import the maps ready for BaseCamp. I am at a loss to where the .gmapi file is - my Mac is also convinced there are none here...

I concurrently downloaded the OSM generic file to copy to the card in my Garmin, but need the detailed maps on my Mac to plan my routes. The global basemap does not have any usable detail for Thailand.

Up till I upgraded to el Capitan, i was able to install maps to basecamp on my mac. I tried all the aboveanswers[moderator edit after conversion to comment], but now i'm unable to install the OSM maps on my computer. I wish someone could help,
