spinnaker aer interface question

Hello all,

I am trying to implement communication between a DVS camera and SpiNN-3 board.

Following AppNote8 I found out that spinnaker tolerates 3.3 V inputs. In the same document when the actual setup is described it is said that 2.5 V IO bank of the fpga is used to input signals into the spinnaker board. 

To my understanding it is ok to use 3.3 V signals. But I was confused by the example that used the 2.5 V IO bank instead. I'd like to double check this so no H/W damage occurs. Could you help on this?
