ImageMagick is widely used in industries such as web development, graphic design, and video editing, as well as in scientific research, medical imaging, and astronomy. Its versatile and customizable nature, along with its robust image processing capabilities, make it a popular choice for a wide range of image-related tasks.
ImageMagick includes a command-line interface for executing complex image processing tasks, as well as APIs for integrating its features into software applications. It is written in C and can be used on a variety of operating systems, including Linux, Windows, and macOS.
The main website for ImageMagick can be found at The most recent version available is ImageMagick 7.1.1-36. The source code for this software can be accessed through a repository. In addition, we maintain a legacy version of ImageMagick, version 6.
Creating a security policy that fits your specific local environment before making use of ImageMagick is highly advised. You can find guidance on setting up this policy. Also, it's important to verify your policy using the validation tool.
One of the key features of ImageMagick is its support for scripting and automation. This allows users to create complex image manipulation pipelines that can be run automatically, without the need for manual intervention. This can be especially useful for tasks that require the processing of large numbers of images, or for tasks that need to be performed on a regular basis.
In addition to its core image manipulation capabilities, ImageMagick also includes a number of other features, such as support for animation, color management, and image rendering. These features make it a versatile tool for a wide range of image-related tasks, including graphic design, scientific visualization, and digital art.
Overall, ImageMagick is a powerful and versatile software suite for displaying, converting, and editing image files. Its support for scripting and automation, along with its other features, make it a valuable tool for a wide range of image-related tasks.
Examples of ImageMagick Usage demonstrates how to use the software from the command line to achieve various effects. There are also several scripts available on the website called Fred's ImageMagick Scripts, which can be used to apply geometric transforms, blur and sharpen images, remove noise, and perform other operations. Additionally, there is a tool called Magick.NET that allows users to access the functionality of ImageMagick without having to install the software on their own systems. Finally, the website also includes a Cookbook with tips and examples for using ImageMagick on Windows systems.

I got a DAC magic today to help out the audio on my apple tv. I've connected the atv out optical to the DAC. Question is should I use the analog out of the dac to my receiver for the best sound instead of the optical out? Or am I being stupid?
I use the analog outs, but then my amp does not have digital inputs. If you use the digital out, you basically send the signal on to your amplifier or receiver's DAC and the signal is just passed through the DACMagic unchanged. You effectively bypass the use of the DACMagic if you do this. Don't hesitate to compare the two if your amp has a digital input. Hopefully you'll like the sound of the DACMagic better. If not, return it.
If you have a reciever (I assume you mean an AV reciever) you have two ways of connecting audio devices. Via analogue or via digital. The digital signal can be sent using HDMI, Optical or Coax cables. The Apple TV has an optical connection so this is what you would use for digital.
The ATV's optical connection can either be connected directly to your receiver or to a DAC (such as your DACMagic). If you connect to a DAC, the output of the DAC would be analogue (DAC means Digital to Analogue converter).
First I used the optical out from an Airport Express to my Yamaha RX-V2700. It sounded fine, but the thing is that also 99% of all AVR do not distribute digital inputs to other zones! Hence the DacMagic came to the rescue, via it's analogue RCA to the AVR. I could not detect any sonic differences, which makes sense if the AVR does the ADC/DAC thing. But I could send the music to my office (zone 2).
Edwin ... not sure about percentages, but I think most modern AV receivers have a proper bypass function for analogue signals avoiding needing an ADC stage. However if you turn on any DSP function then ADC will be needed.
Thanks for all your comments. Right now I'm using an Emotiva amp hooked to my Onkyo 1007 Receiver as the preamp. It's also used for home theater but when listening to music I use two channel only. The onkyo does have pure and direct modes that supposedly take all DSP, etc. out of the signal path. It even turns off the display on the receiver. I will try that with analogue in from the dac magic then compare it to the receivers dac. Thanks for all your comments.
Does not equal no ADC/DAC. The AVR manuals do not print "when Pure button is on, no ADC/DAC is performed", do they? YAMAHA prints for the PURE DIRECT mode: "...this unit plays back the source with the least circuitery".
Pure Direct modes generally avoid the ADC/DAC stage as no processing (tone, delays, etc) are required. However there are still multiple electronic switches and volume controls in the signal path. Sometimes the multiple-channel input is "more" pure/direct than other analogue inputs.
One week ago, if you had asked me if I planned on getting an Apple Vision Pro, I would have scoffed. Why try typing on a clumsy digital keyboard when I could work much faster on a real one? Why watch a movie on a flat screen inside a headset when I could just turn on my TV? Wildly expensive, superfluous tech is just not for me.
