Greeting to all ,
I have one doubt as I have gone through some research paper in SPHY,  I have land use/land cover (LULC) maps for 1980, 1990, and 2005, and I would like to analyze the decadal LULC change and its impact on discharge using the SPHY model. Could you please guide me on how to integrate all LULC into the model as in case data folder as well as in metadata format write up ?
Specifically, I am wondering:
  1. Should I run the model separately for each 10-year period, updating the LULC map for each run, or is there a way to place all LULC maps in one folder and let the model automatically switch between them?
  2. If it is possible to use all LULC maps at once, what changes do I need to make in the metadata to ensure the model handles the decadal changes properly?
  3. When integrating these maps, will the model generate separate .map files for each LULC period, and how should I structure the folder or metadata to manage this?

Any guidance on how to approach this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Hi,

To evaluate the effect of land use changes only, you'd need to isolate the other processes that affect streamflow, such as e.g. climatology. Therefore, in order to do this assessment you'd need to run the model three times, each time using the same simulation period, but with a different land use input map. For model calibration you could choose the period for which most observations are avaiable, and select the LULC map associated with the calibration period.

Cheers
Wilco
