Usage of SPHY v3 vs v2.2

Dear Team,

I have been working with SPHY V2.0, and I am now looking to upgrade to V3 or the most recent version, primarily to incorporate the mass-conserving behavior of glaciers. However, I have encountered some confusion regarding the available documentation and software compatibility.

The manual labeled as V3 contains content specific to V3.1, and I have not been able to locate a dedicated manual for V3. Could you please clarify the following:

1. In the absence of a V3-specific manual, should I follow the V3.1 manual or V2 manual for V3 usage?

2. Alternatively, is it recommended to use v2.2 rather than v3?

Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

There is no version 3, at least not one that i support. I therefore recommend to stick to version 2.2.1 as that is also mass conserving for glaciers. Details can be found here: https://sphy.readthedocs.io/en/latest/releases.html
