New Website This Weekend

Look for our new SPHS Alumni Association website this weekend. The
website address remains the same, www.sphsalumni.com.

In addition, we will have a link to the official Facebook Page of the
SPHS Alumni Association on our website. To reach our official
Facebook Page directly, go to www.facebook.com/officialsphsalumni

We will be reaching out to our Alumni Classes with current Facebook
pages and asking them to link their pages to our Facebook Page in the
coming weeks.

South Philadelphia High School (SPHS) Receives Barrymore Award

This week, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that SPHS was the
recipient of a 2011 Barrymore Award. Southern’s Principal, Otis D.
Hackney, III, received the Theater Education and Community Service
Award for the school’s work with the Wilma, 1812 Productions, and the
Philadelphia Young Playwrights in creating the play, “We Write South
Philly High”, which involved more than 50 SPHS students who studied
acting and playwriting.
