Dear Fellow Southern Graduate:

E-NEWSLETTER WILL BE AVAILABLE ON FEBRUARY 18, 2011

The 2011 SPHS Alumni Newsletter will be available electronically
tomorrow, Friday, February 18, 2011. There is still time to sign up
for the 2011 E-Newsletter. Those who have not signed up for
electronic distribution of the Newsletter should expect to receive
their Newsletter in the mail by March 1. If you do not receive your
Newsletter by March 1, 2011, please let us know at
wpol...@sphsalumni.com.

CONTENT OF NEWSLETTER

Our Newsletter is sixteen (16) pages. Following my last email
requesting articles, we received an abundance of responses. Many
articles were lengthy. Due to space constraints, several of the
submissions had to be truncated.

Please remember to use the cards included in the Newsletter (also
available as forms on our website) to communicate with us. The cards
can be used to (1) Suggest a Worthy SPHS Graduate; (2) Become a
Lifetime Member; (3) Purchase Tickets to the Hall of Fame Dinner (on
rear page of Newsletter); (4) Place an Ad in the 2011 Hall of Fame
Program Book; and (5) Make a Donation to the SPHS Alumni Association.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS YEAR'S HALL OF FAME AWARD RECIPIENTS

The following Southern graduates will be entered into the SPHS Alumni
Hall of Fame at the Hall of Fame Dinner to be held on Thursday, May
12, 2011, at the Holiday Inn in South Philly (10th and Packer):

Athletic Hall of Fame:
Carmen Ferullo, Class of 1960
Will Jacobs, Class of 1950
Reginald Nichols, Class of 1969

Cultural Hall of Fame:
Anthony J. Evangelisto, Ed.D., Class of 1958
Patty Jackson, Class of 1981
Dr. John R. Vannoni, Class of 1944

Tickets to the Hall of Fame Dinner on May 12, 2011 (@ $35 each) can be
purchased online on our website (www.sphsalumni.com), or you can use
the card inserted into the Newsletter to mail in your payment for
tickets. The doors will open at 5:30pm, with dinner beginning at
6:30pm.

BEWARE OF IMPOSTER WEBSITE

It has been brought to our attention that another website is creating
confusion for persons looking for our official website
(www.sphsalumni.com). We will not list the address of the imposter
website.

The imposter website claims to have information on classmates and
yearbooks, but requires you to pay a fee of $10 to see any content.
However, what they don’t disclose until you pay the $10 is that there
is not much content on the site, and that it is up to the classmates
to post information and pictures from yearbooks. The website is the
topic of several RipOff Reports on the web from people who stated they
were duped into paying the $10 fee only to find out there was no
information to be had. The site uses photos which it appears to have
grabbed from Classmates.com to lure people to join. The imposter
website creates similar sites for schools all over the country.

We have spoken with some of the so-called “Recent Members” listed on
the imposter website who informed us that they have never visited the
imposter website. The SPHS Alumni Association is looking into its
legal remedies against this imposter website.

DON'T FORGET TO LET US KNOW IF YOUR CLASS IS PLANNING A REUNION

Remember to send us a note so that we may post your Reunion under the
"Reunions" section of our website. Even if you do not have full
details, we can post a note on our website for your class year that
"Planning is Underway", with contact information for the person(s)
coordinating the reunion. Also remember to advertise your reunion in
the South Philly Review, which is available online at www.southphillyreview.com.
