UNVEILING OF PORTRAIT OF ALUMNUS IN CITY HALL - October 26, 2011, 4pm

The Honorable Alfred J. DiBona, Jr. (SPHS Boys’ Class of January
1953), will have his portrait unveiled this Wednesday, October 26,
2011, in Courtroom 653, City Hall at 4:00pm. Judge DiBona is a Senior
Judge in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, and has been inducted
into the SPHS Alumni Hall of Fame. If you are able to attend the
portrait unveiling, please note that the entrance for the general
public is on the Northeast corner of City Hall.


AWARD OF EXCELLENCE LUNCHEON - November 16, 2011, noon

The Award of Excellence Luncheon is quickly approaching. This year’s
award ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at noon at
the Waterfall Room (Swan Caterers), 2015 S. Water Street,
Philadelphia, PA.

Each year we recognize persons (not always Alumni) for their work in
the community. This year’s recipients of the Award of Excellence are:

VIVIAN PERPIGLIA ‘52

Come help recognize and support these deserving individuals. Tickets
are $25 per person. Please make checks payable to “SPHS Alumni

FOR THOSE WHO MISSED THE SPHS PRESENTATION, "WE WRITE SOUTH PHILLY
HIGH" (AND THOSE WHO WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN)

Back by popular demand, there will be additional showings of the play,
"We Write South Philly High" (for which Principal Otis Hackney and
Southern Students received a Barrymore Award recently). For those of
you who had conflicting commitments on the date of the original
presentation and wanted to see it, you will have a few more chances to
fit this play into your schedule in late November/early December
2011. The play will again be performed at the Wilma Theater. More
details to follow in the next email communication.

Classes of January 1961 and June 1961 - Sunday, November 13, 2011, 4pm

Boys’ Class of 1952 - June 2012

Classes of January and June 1957 - Sunday, October 7, 2012, 1pm

ALL-CLASSES West Coast Reunion - Saturday, October 13, 2012

If you have a scheduled reunion which is not listed above, please let
us know the details of your Class Reunion (include the coordinator's

will post your Class Reunion on our website under the “Events and
Reunions” link.

WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE REUNIONS SCHEDULED. We are aware that plans
are underway for a Class of 1977 Reunion in 2012, as well as a 1980s
multi-class-year informal get together in 2012. More details on these
events will be posted on our website once finalized.
